I'm sitting here watching him host SNL. While he is stunning to look at, he has very little musical talent. But, I do admit, his Rhianna impression was spot on. biggrin

Yeah there was a time when not writing your own raps would've ended your career.

No one cares about that stuff anymore.

Yea, he is very handsome which imo has a good 50% to do with his appeal. Most of his fans are women from what I see.

Drake has basically become a pop star (and not in the sense that he's so popular as a rapper that he crossed over in that fashion) and I can't get into a lot of his music but the dude is far from talentless. He can write, produce and rap when he really wants too. It would be nice if he just went the R&B route but he can't sing that well and honestly, while his persona suits that of an R&B singer more, his softer music for the most part is boring. He's not as talented as he is popular but he's made some good music and nowhere near talentless, which is a massive exaggeration. His major weakness (besides the ones mentioned above) is his inability to craft a cohesive album.

He has ghostwriters according to many in the industry.

Nonsense.

Drake was a songwriter before an artist. He first met Alicia Keys when she was presneted with an up and coming songwriter who happened to be him.

Meek said Drake had some verses written by others that they demoed. A couple of people picked up on that and ran with it.

Drake has written number 1 songs for others. He is a damn good song writer. I hate that he acts tough on records and bows to peer pressure to demean women, but he is talented.

He was one of the writers with Alicia Keys on "Unthinkable" so there's that.

But that SNL performance? I rate it JUST above Kanye West's performance.
