Carlos Santana has got to be the busiest guy in the music world. In addition to doing this Santana reunion album (and some upcoming reunion tour dates this year),he's also writing and producing a new Ronald Isley album,The Power Of Peace.....plus he plans to perform with Supernova,a new jazz group he formed with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter....and of course, there are some tourdates with his 'regular' Santana Band (including some dates with Journey),not to mention his House Of Blues residency deal in Las Vegas....does this guy get any sleep?! lol

Carlos Santana is a prime example of a veteran artist who has been able to sustain a successful career while still creating new music and putting it out for people to hear. It is possible. He certainly doesn't belong on the recent thread on so-called "washed up" artists. lol

Cool cover. Really looking forward to hearing the music. Pretty amazing that after all these years Santana is releasing new music. Hopefully they(and it appears that they did)kept it Santana.

The album is sensational. It is a "real" Santana album and it stays true to their sound/vibe.I haven't been this excited about a new album in a long, long time.

Something else: Certain artists are against "reunions" and collaborating with old bandmembers. They see it as "looking back" and they don't like the idea of nostalgia.Thankfully,Carlos Santana doesn't have that silly view. This new album is the most inspired Santana album in a while.

/// I guess this is a dig at Prince but if the Revolution cannot come up with a reunion project like Santana's then I think it best that they do nothing. I can only see Prince doing it good music was come out of it not a charity project for old band members.

"a charity project for old band members" rolleyes that's what you think reunion albums are, huh?

What you don't realize is,these type of projects can bring out the best in all the members. These people are like family....they know and understand each other, and they can bounce ideas off each other. But I guess you think it's better to hate old bandmembers and to view them as simply "old people",smh.

seeing santana (and band members) perform at an amphitheatre at night is like a witnessing a musical connection to the stars.

the band resonates in the night with some unbelievable harmonies and rhythms.

when carlos does guitar solos under the stars

one can almost hear echoing sounds from the many spheres of the starry sky overhead.

dove

i so hope when santana and other musician tour this summer, they come to the bay area amphitheatre in my area.

the man is so very cosmic in his musicianship.

You are referring to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, right? I have seen so many Santana concerts there and I agree with everything you said.It is almost like a spiritual event! Santana music, under the stars on a warm summer night! A truly mesmerizing experience.

Hey, Soul, how does the vinyl sound? biggrin This album sounds better with every listen on my ancient Ipod but I bet it sounds wonderful on vinyl. Unfortunately, I can't blast my stereo speakers like I could in my old apartment, even for CDs, so I'm relegated to headphones. razz

One of the best concerts I've ever seen was Santana at Shoreline in 1995.This was several years before his Supernatural comeback and the show, which lasted nearly three hours, was very interesting.During the first half,Santana played alot of rare stuff and some cool surprises, including Stevie Wonder's "Another Star".It wasn't until the last part of the show when he started playing the familiar hits and fan favorites. It was a stunning performance...one of those shows that you never want to end.
