I guess I missed that part of the show.

Could be wrong but I don't believe those awards
were aired.

I still say The GRAMMYS should bring back the "Best Album/Vocal Male" & "Best Album/Vocal Female" categories..There would be so many more Artists nominated like in the past...Now an Artist gotta pray to get a nomination period...That also slims down invites to the Ceremony...The GRAMMYs can afford to buy some more Gold and bring the categories back...

I'm happy for him - it was a great album. Hope he doesn't wait so long for the follow-up.

Me too. I think and hope the next album will probably be a mix of material from Brown Sugar, Voodoo & Black Messiah. I'm happy he won but I don't think D gives a hoot about awards.

Well, if Questlove is right and they follow through with their initial plan and announcement then we should see a new album or EP with lots of outtakes and alternative versions of songs from the past couple of years.

He mentioned this a couple of times.

I hope so, it would be great to hear from him in '16, particularly after the Grammy win.

His latest album was very good, but doesn't match Voodoo IMO. I love the Voodoo cd.

hope it's not just a collection of left overs, but something worthy of an album. Something that sounds like an album, and something different than his last. I love his last album. But when this dude is spending so much time on his music, he should be able to grow and make more diverse music. Just my opinion. I just know he's so damn talented, he can use his talent on more than copying his old songs.

The nominees in the R&B category were very relevant. I was checking for this but I definitely watched the whole televised ceremony and saw neither award.

I thought there was some growth and diversity on the new album which is cool but he shouldn't just abandon what captivated our ears . That soulful gospel like voice, multi track harmonies and the falsetto (whenver he chooses to use it)

cool I agree

But it's easy to stay too much the same... especially when his last album was released 15 years after voodoo? It's different, but not 15 years of difference, lol. The game has changed so many times since then. However, D'angelo kind of picked up where he left it when he dissappered. I think he knew he couldn't change it that much. He'd probably loose fans if he changed up too much.

Lol, I agree it's not 15yrs of difference. Never quite thought of it like that. I will say Black Messiah is much different than what I was anticipating. Where Brown Sugar was better than I thought it would be and Voodoo was what I anticipated it would be and a lot more.
