"Work" is actually my favorite new song!

I want to know who the hec are these people who write this silly articles. What clout do they have? They make some of the most silly and misinformed opinions ever, its disgusting. None of these pop stars today are doing anything groundbreaking. As far as I am concern, todays stars have it WAYYYY easy, too easy. All this new digital era has proven is that you don't need a quality song or album anymore to market a pop star. Social media has become a crutch for these artists..and not in a good way. Back in the day when you had to release an album the traditional way, you had to have a good pop song/album in order to get people to go to record stores to pay money for it, its not like that now. Now all you have to do is drop it on itunes with a video attach or some type of gimmick ploy via social media to get people to buy it and half the time its not even because the song is good. It just wouldnt be the same the traditional way. Its too much spetacle over substance nowadays oh...and I LOVE Rihanna's new album too.

I like the whole album, which surprised me. Don't care for the bonus songs, but Imma liking all the songs from the original album.

The art of good songwriting is becoming scarce in pop music, which is a shame. It isn't that good songs aren't being written and performed--they are just hard to find on the music charts these days. Didn't expect this album from Rihanna.

let me get this straight, MJ releases the Black or White music video in 91 with the panther dance, and its pulled from every station.. 25 years later, when it is trendy to do so, Beyonce releases a video about race issues and it's a pop reformation? how many people she got on her payroll

Rihanna is ok who are the other two especially that Kanye North guy

I also want to add that Rihanna is very likable. Out of all the female pop stars of her era she is the most likable and down to earth. She has a very interesting personality, she actually comes across as quite inteligent and articulate and she shows a lot of charisma in interviews. She has natural star quality, quality that Beyonce, Perry, Nikki etc lack imo. She also has catchy songs and is creative with her fashion. People were quick to write her off but I think she earned her status.

Overall, the closest one to being revolutionary is Kanye and even then that's a stretch. He at least broadened and played a major role in changing the tide of hip hop. Beyonce, however, hasn't done anything outside of further encouraging a generation of girls to believe they can never be the problem in a relationship with neo-feminism.

Surprised the author didn't include Taylor Swift while he was at it.

My ALL time favorite single by her is "Rude Boy"...Ironically it's 's favorite also. Which use to be his trademark moniker.....I use to have the button & license plate. Until I found out it was a gang out here with the same name.

She is not a groundbreaking artist but this album IS a step in the right direction. She is challenging her self musically, which is good. I read in some of her interviews she stated that she knows that her past music has not be classic material and that is what she wants to make. So I respect she is at least trying to grow as an artist.
