Best biographies on Madonna & Mariah??

I like to read a good biography every now and again and I realise it has been a long time since I've read anything from Mariah or Madonna...mostly it is because I have been dissapointed by the research on these artists. Either the author focuses too much on their personal life (forgetting the music) or the personal life is glossed over and not thoroughly approached. I have read Madonna an Intimate Biography...it was okay from what I remember, and a book on Mariah which was a fast read and not thorough at all. I believe it ended at the Glitter era.

Have you read any well written book on these artists? Which ones do you recommend?

Think J Randy Taraborellis book about Madonna is worth checking out and I think her bro wrote a book about her too. I think there's not many Mariah books out there, I read one way back in the mid to late 90s, called Mariah Carey Her Story. I think Mariah's backstory about her sister there's an article about her here and her families past might be one which most authors avoid because Team Mariah would drop a ton of bricks on them legalwise for dishing the dirt. I think one discussing her music without the TMZ/National Enquirer scandalism would be worth reading. Plus there's a market for it too as there's no real author out there who's researched her music in much detail & MC has a huge fan base especially like in Japan. Considering her successes maybe somebody like Taraborelli should write a Mariah bio. I think some on Amazon you see like ebooks are just poorly written cashins and usually just copy and pasted Wikipedia pages.

I have this book, too. It's well-written and insightful, but J.Randy Taraborrelli is like a "tabloid writer" smile He seems more interested in the personal stuff, and less focused on the music.

This book is pretty good and is great to look at. Lucy O'Brian's 'Like An Icon' is good too as it focuses more on her work rather than personal life/scandal.

Thank you very much! I will check these out now. I agree someone should def look into Mariah's career and biography. There is not alot to be found in thorough detail.
