jill scott- woman It might be over for her... This release is trash. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

I just watched a one-hour special on the Centric channel about "Woman." Jill Scott performed many of the songs from the release, including her latest 'Closure' and 'You Don't Know.' Hearing them live makes me want to buy the CD now. I might look for samples of all the songs online before I buy - but the stories behind the songs reminded me of what a fantastic poet/writer she is. She really has a great perspective about the ups and downs in (her) life. She's also a great singer too!

I'm digging so far. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

I liked it too. Listened to it twice yesterday when it came out.

It's got elements of all of her discography 2 date, including some bluesy/torchy stuff, but on the whole, another winner. Sadly, if this one doesn't sell, I predict that on the next one she will have gone crawlin' back 2 Hidden Beach from where she came. The title's underwhelming, but the content is typical Jilly from Philly (and THEN some!) Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I purchased it based off of the samples I listened to. I haven't had a chance to listen to it in it's entirety yet but it can't be worse than her last one, "The Light of the Sun". IMO, that one was unlistenable. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

The last two album releases (including this one) from Ms. Scott have been disjointed and souless... no flow what-so-ever.

Not the same Jill Scott from the Hidden Beach days. This album follows the disappointment of the last one. Don't laugh at my funk

each of her albums is not as good as the one that preceeded it...but she looks so good that im oblivious to the decline in the quality of her music...that beautiful smile and them wonderful boobies, keeps the flame alive

"Woman" like "The Light Of The Sun" with its absent title track (only available digitally; STUPID move) are NOT the Hidden Beach Jill! Though there are SOME gems, I'll concur that there's no cohesiveness. With Hidden Beach, her releases seemed 2 have a theme and a flow. Not so much these days. It's sad. Both, like ALL of her releases, [Edited 7/26/15 14:15pm] Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I beg to differ. Beautifully Human is my favorite. [Edited 7/26/15 14:33pm] Don't laugh at my funk

Yep. I loved Beautiful Human also.
Scott has lost her way... on can hope she can right the ship. Lord knows, Scott has the talent to do so.

Just listened to it and this is MILES about "The Light Of the Sun". "Woman" is more than I expected. Best CD of new music I've heard in 2015 so far. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I loved the previous release, but this one right here is just all over the place and not good. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

I liked this. Not the best Jill Scott ever, but very good, IMO.

. Its a fun, accessible album that would be a fun roadtrip or cookout listen. I like the variety and how certain songs play off classic beats and eras. I like that it isnt rapper-loaded or too heavy.
