Dilan,

Thank's for finding this gem, been looking forward to seeing this footage for years. It would of been a fantastic album. Shame personal circumstances at the time cut this short before completion.

In 1993 George Michael and his cousin Andros Giorgiou had an amazing idea - to create an album written and produced by George, with other major artists (i.e. Stevie Wonder, Seal, Janet Jackson) to record the songs. It was going to be a collection of duets, featuring George singing with several artists including: Seal, Sade, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Bryan Ferry, and Elton John.
This project was called ’The Trojan Souls’, and in 1993 Warner Brother gave George and Andros a million dollars to produce it. George spent countless hours in the studio writing and recording the tracks. The resulting work would have become an instant George Michael classic.

Unfortunately due to devastating personal events, George was unable to continue working and the project was shelved. While the instrumental tracks to each song had been completed, the vocals were left in various states. A couple were 100% complete, some had choruses, and others were left in instrumental form.

One of the songs - named "W.T.F." was to be recorded as a duet by George and Sade. It remained an instrumental with no vocals.

"Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" was intended as the lead single off the scrapped Trojan Souls project.

This is from the L.A Times dated January 24th 1993...

Titled "Trojan Souls," the collection features versions of new Michael songs sung by such artists as Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Bryan Ferry and Seal. Michael's manager Rob Kahane warns that the album is no guarantee that Michael is destined to end up with the Burbank-based company, Warner Bros. "People are absolutely jumping to the wrong conclusion if they think the 'Trojan Souls' album is something that will induce him into signing a major deal with Warners," Kahane says. While any album of original material recorded by Michael is on hold pending resolution of his lawsuit, Sony was unable to prevent him from proceeding on the "Trojan Souls" album and a live mini-album due in April called Five Live.

The highlight of Trojan Souls is ’This Kind of
Love’, a ballad that was written as a duet with Elton John.

Die-hard fans might recognize ’Ain’t No
Stoppin’ Us now’, which was to be released as the first
single from the album.
