I like all kinds of music...rap, jazz, funk, soul...I have a diverse interest in everything.

My problem is that when it comes to putting music on my mp3 player, the songs dont flow or match together. I would think 80s music (fast paced) and old school hip hop would be perfect for working out. What do you think?

Your fondness for all kinds of music is great, but mixing these genres could be problematic for doing your own "mix" with an mP3. Have you tried something like Pandora yet? It's free and you just type in the kind of artists you like, or even a genre, and they play a mix for you. That way, let's say you are lifting weights. I like classic rock music when I am doing weight training days. The station I use from Pandora plays stuff like Led Zepplin, ZZ Top, Queen, BTO, Pink Floyd, etc. Then, on days I want more cardio, I usually pick a disco station and Pandora plays stuff like Sylvester, Donna Summer, Chic, Lime, etc. That way you can match-up the exact type of workout you are doing with your music or vice versa. Just my 2 cents worth...

You like HOUSE music??? I can't STAND that stuff! How the hell did you become a Prince fan?? House music and EDM etc etc. are all computers gone crazy, making the music by themselves, rather than humans....

Though I have to mention that I absoltutely loved Clean Bandit - Rather Be from last year...... But that's an exception.

Some personal favourites:

- The "Rocky" movie soundtracks. Nothing gets you moving like Eye of the Tiger, Hearts On Fire, No Easy Way Out, and of course the main theme. The "Top Gun" soundtrack has some pretty badass tunes on to, and I Still Believe from "The Lost Boys" soundtrack, great motivational song.

- Some later nineties trance tunes, great to run to...Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia, Three Drives - Greece 2000, Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar, etc. The TranceNation albums from Ministry of Sound are a good place to start.

- Anything remixed by the Cut Up Boys. Their mash-ups are fantastic, something for everyone. They have a series of albums out on the Ministry of Sound label to that are brilliant.

If you're basing that on the EDM explosion in the States from the last couple of years, I see your point, as most of it has been shit. But if we're talking proper House music, particularly late 80s and late 90s you're missing out on some great stuff...Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, etc.

I'm a big fan of what you might call "proper" music with "instruments and people". I play piano and guitar myself to. By you're missing out on a world of delights if you're dismissing music just because the tool to create it was IT based rather than a traditional instrument....New Order, Joy Division, OMD, Human League, Basement Jaxx, Gorillaz, Frankie, Gary Numan, Fat Boy Slim, Aphex Twin, Prodigy, Orbital and so on...
