Duran Duran's A View To A Kill

I love that song, always have, but am I the only one to think the agressive drum beat and dynamic bass play AGAINST the atmospheric melody and the harmony strings?

I really would like to heave an "atmospheric" mix with no beat or a softer beat: I'm pretty sure it would reveal the strong mystic aspects of the song, turn it into a hypnotic think way more than it already is!

Opinions?

I have A View To A Kill ranked #1 on my list as THE great theme for a James Bond film ever.

There is absolutely not wrong with the original mix. It's one of those dance-pop classic that should be left alone as is, apart from having a 12" mix of course.

Genius song, and also my #1 Bond theme too.

I never considered it without the powerful drums. There are some live versions without drums up to 3:45.

Bond medley without drums up to 4:40.

Favorite Bond song has to be Carly Simon. I do think AVTAK is the 2nd best song though.

Thanks so much for posting these. I was searching in vain for a remix of this song with a more symphonic arrangement. It's nice to see these live performances.

.

It's also cool to see so much love on the Org for this song. As far as Bond themes go, 'A View To A Kill' is a huuuge guilty pleasure of mine. I rarely encounter people who hold it in high regard, especially when compared to classics like 'Goldfinger' or 'From Russia With Love'. I can understand why, but I still love Duran Duran's contribution to the Bond soundtrack.

I don't want your rhythm without your rhyme

Yeah. That.

It certainly ranks amongst the top Bond songs... but then again, most of them are great.

My least favorite Bond movie but one of my favorite Bond themes. The aggressive beat is a huge part of it. I mean, the theme had to be full of pounding excitement just to keep audiences from noticing that Roger Moore was pretty much a fucking mummy by that point. It's some serious Weekend at Bernie's shit.
