I get her past charting Status but I still feel this was the Year that Older Acts could have represented on The American Charts...

If she didn't sell that much during her heyday, she probably is not all of a sudden get big album sales now. Some of Aretha's singles were really popular, but her albums not so much, just like 1960s Motown. That's why Motown puts out endless compilations of the same songs, but many of the actual albums from that time are out of print or can only be bought as imports from Japan. She's an older act, so is less likely to get played on the Top 40. Top 40 is generally where the bigger sellers come from. But there's always been exceptions.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Aphex Twin released a new album.

This was an incredible year for music across all genres, I don't really care what the mainstream thinks about it.

And Aphex Twin released a new album.

Thank you, goodnight.
