Give the Drummer some

This is not name a drummer from a band thread. Instead it's about someone who started as a drummer than later became something more. Became a singer, lead singer in the band they play for, producer, ect.

-Richard Pryor (house drummer at a Illinois club)
-Marvin Gaye
-James Brown
-Phill Collins
-Larry Blackman (session drummer before Cameo)
-Maurice White (Ramsey Lewis drummee)
-Morris Day
-LA Reid
-Teddy Pendergrass
-Jeffrey Osborne
-Steven Tyler
-Rossie O'Donnell
-Bill Cosby
-Billy Bob Thornton
-Fred Astare
-Sammy Davis Jr.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Buddy Miles, yeah that's a good one! But Sly and Bootsy didn't start their musical carreer as drummers.
