Guess What New Edition Is Doing To Make Sure That They Never Go Broke?

Guess What New Edition Is Doing To Make Sure That They Never Go Broke?

New EditionNew Edition

The New Edition members now have side hustles that will probably shock you, but their smart, because this is how they’re making sure that they keep their finances healthy and never have to be placed in situations like they were in back in the 80’s.

They’ve repeatedly spoken publicly about how they spent the early stages of their careers (The “Candy Girl” and “Is This The End” era) dead broke. They had millions of fans, but were still living in Boston’s Orchard Park housing projects and only received a whopping $1.87 check from their record label at one point in time. Now all of that happened in the early, to mid 80’s, so when we fast forward to today, N.E. has lived and they’ve learned, and now they seem to be making sure that they have their side hustles on point because clearly, their music careers are what they love, but the music industry business can be kind of cut throat at times…depending on who you ask.

Take a look at what they’re now doing to make sure that their money never looks funny again…

bobby brown bbq sauce2

Bobby Brown recently launched his new barbecue sauce line and many of you have probably also seen him as recurring guest on Kevin Hart’s “Real House Husbands of Hollywood” comedy series on BET.

Ronnie DevoeRonnie Devoe- Devoe Broker Associates

Ronnie Devoe co-founded his real estate company in 2006 and it is still going strong today. DEVOE Real Estate is an Atlanta based company specializing in residential/commercial real estate sales, buying, leasing, investing and property management.

Ralph TresvantRalph Tresvant

Ralph Tresvant is co-owner of a Xzault Media Group, which is a multi-media company that Ralph is also signed to as a solo artist. The company produces music, family-friendly 3D animated and non-animated content films, television, web casting and DVD services and products.

Michael BivinsMichael Bivins

Michael Bivins has always been a music industry shaker and mover behind the scenes. He discovers, manages, and produces for other acts, and his most successful groups were most notably Another Bad Creation, MC Brains, Boyz II Men, and 702, all of whom were signed to his Motown distributed label Biv 10 Records. He serves as the music entrepreneur and A&R man of his own acts. He’s also worked on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ team to mold his Bad Boy artists. It’s probably only a matter of time before we see a new Bivins creation in the works.

Johnny Gill (Getty Images)Johnny Gill (Getty Images)

Johnny Gill began to branch out into acting, but we’re not sure if he’s still doing it. He last starred in the 2009 stage play A Mother’s Prayer, which also starred Robin Givens and Shirley Murdock. As far as we know, he hasn’t taken on any new roles recently.

Ricky BellRicky Bell

Ricky Bell is the only one in the group who doesn’t seem to have any outside business ventures, but we still want to show love to him in this article because if it weren’t for him being an intricate piece of the N.E. puzzle since the beginning, N.E. wouldn’t be same.

Good for them.Nowadays,it is so important for artists/musicians to have other ways of generating income (besides just music),especially after the hit singles stop coming.

Ottensen

I just saw this not too long ago and thought, "good move, Bobby"...after all, he and the rest of the boys are only going to be able to keep up with their dance moves from the old days but for so long. We already saw the concert this year where it looked like gout was setting in lol

They got off the bus after their first tour and the each got $15.00. They have to have side hustles and anytime someone on this board bitches about Prince being greedy they need to look at all the artist that are broke.

They can do an album of oldies like Under The Blue Moon. NE doing doo wop era tunes would be more interesting to me than an album of new songs by whoever the hot producers are.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

When you do Radio you can Broadcast your show from any station in the Country/World...That's the Dream job cuz it can go on the road with you...So yes, they should do Vegas for a year or more and still bring in another paycheck with a permanent Radio Gig...
