I have to ask the question - EXACTLY - when and where was this? Because being the True FUNK Soldier that I am - to the day that I am no more! I can, shall and will - most certainly acquiesce that ALL Black folks - prefer our FUNK - rather LOUD!

I know I rocked the hell out when I went to see them. I even danced on stage with Gary Shider, may he rest in peace. The only thing I didn't do was smoke the weed they were passing around.

They played sets that were heavy on the rock sides this summer in Europe. I saw them this summer and to me it felt like seeing the original group. 1h25min festival set starting with "Standing On The Verge" with "Maggot Brain", an aggressive version of "Knee Deep" etc. all played really loud with long solos and aggressive drumming. Nothing like seeing the "P-Funk All Stars" performing live on TV and looking like a cover band of their own music on so many occasions. Sure, George's voice must have been in not that great condition, but you couldn't really tell that live. The younger guys in the band could keep the energy level high. I think that he's realized now that he's older he's got to bring back more of the old edge to his stuff - which I think is also present on the new track. It's edgier, grittier, darker, more cacophonic, like in the past. Gone are also the colourful dreadlocks (which weren't his "trademark" during the classic days anyway).
