Ticket sales for Usher’s latest tour are weak

Despite Usher being a judge on “The Voice,” ticket sales for his world tour, “The UR Experience,” have been lackluster.

Music insiders tell us that most venues on the 27-city tour have been selling only a fraction of the available seats.

They estimate sales are so soft that promoter Live Nation may lose $5 million on the project.

“Usher’s sales will be fine in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto, but he’s selling so badly in other markets that the good ones can’t offset the bad ones,” said one source.

One reason might be the lack of a strong opening act — August Alsina was to open, but recently collapsed during a performance and was hospitalized for a week.

DJ Cassidy is also on the tour roster.

Usher has also reportedly pushed back the release of his eighth album, “UR,” to next year. (It had been slated for this fall.)

The “UR Experience” kicks off in Quebec on Nov. 1 and ends in Tampa, Fla., on Dec. 14.

Reps for Live Nation and Usher didn’ t get back to us.

Usher should be doing just as good or better than Justin Timberlake in regards to ticket sales.

The smart move would have been to play in smaller venues. Oh yeah people just can't pay those high ticket prices as well. Hard these day with most people out of work. sad

Poor ticket sales. Delaying the album until next year. What do you guys think is going on? Has Usher just run his course as a musical artist? He's been in the business for a while now.

Everything seems like it wasn't planned properly. He's going on a tour called "The UR Experience" and yet,the actual album called 'UR' won't be released until next year?! nuts He should postone the tour until next year, after the album is released and he's had a few hit singles from it.

His new songs are absolute shit. He was promoting the shit out of them! and neither reached the top 40. Or even the top 50 lol

He showed promise when he did Climax. Now he's back to making generic pop.

His day is pretty much done, NO Offense but these artists now especially in RB have the same fucking act, females and the male artists, the same type of shows, that same part where they grab some chick out of the audience and grind on her blah blah blah its all the same shit, whether its trey songz usher, chris brown, drake etc... Routine and boring RnB

The album is being pushed back because the singles didn't gain any traction, which really surprised me. Then again he has been out for a long time. My theory is if you're around for ten years it's around that time that if you don't have your last hurrah then the inspiration, drive and current-ness just isn't there anymore. This may be the case with Usher. Even his dancing has a been there quality to it. Not current.

Apparently.

Though to be fair Usher debuted in 1994. He had a full 8 years on Justin's debut.

I hate to say it but I agree. The lastest stuff by him just sounds so generic to me. Even though a lot of people didn't "get" Climax, I thought it was brilliant, and plus some of the best remixes of his music ever came from that song. But it was notible mostly because of the fact that it wasn't a formula reproduced by a 1000000 other R&B artists trying to make a name for themselves.

Change it one more time..

alot of big artists are not secure or humble enough to do this. usher cant be compared to timberlake for the simple fact they have a different core audience. usher has had huge crossover success but he is still first a r&b artists, his fan base dont have the disposible cash that white pop or rock fans have.

To most people his debut album is "My way" though.

I saw him for free a few years ago. That and Alicia Keys are probably the most boring concerts I've ever attended. She also ended up giving tickets away for free and only charging a booking fee on Ticketmaster.

If that's the case, then he should just postpone the tour, too. He needs to get his ducks in a row before dropping a new album and launching a tour.Go back to the drawing board, record some GREAT songs, and then start the new era.

The only songs I've enjoyed from him since Confessions are Doin' The Most and Be - Be wasn't even on album, I don't think. I haven't enjoyed any of his studio albums since Confessions. He had a pretty decent number of singles on all of his albums prior to that. I just can't get into that techno/dance hall sound that has taken over R&B.

You took the words, right out of my mouth. He hasn't done anything of substance since "Confessions". He had a great formular, but decided he wanted to become more of a "visual" artist than an artist.

My Way is my fave but I recall it being a huge album.. lots of hits. Confessions was crazier the way "Yeah" stayed at #1 for months.

i couldnt understand the appeal of 'yeah', it was a bunch of noise.lil john has to be one of the worse producers to hit the scene.
