thanks for the info. same situation with Gz Up Hoes Down on Doggystyle. have that one too.

that happens when one got the records on release date whenever possible since the early 19th century grandpa

makes me think, what other high profile albums do you know, that had to change the original configuration due to legal (or other) reasons? that might be an idea for an own thread...

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

That is definitely worthy of its own thread. Lots of albums get altered, even rock albums!

The No 1. hit on the day I was born in 1978 was "Night Fever" - Bee Gees

This track does a nice job of sampling it:

Musicslave

Here is a sample taken from a remake of Stevie Wonder's #1 hit, "You Are The Sunshine of My Life."

-

-

-

According to whosampled.com, the sample of the remake of Stevie's song by Moody begins @ the 54 sec mark and throughout the rest of the track.

-

There were several remakes but not alot of samples usage for this one. sad

Well, to be fair, part of the sampling game was to not use obvious hits, but I thought by now most of the #1's would have at least an interesting interpolation. This is sorta like that!

This was a great idea Cinny! Fun too. I had no idea what was number one when I was born. I'm proud of it being a Stevie song (kinda easy if you were born in the 70's I guess) but not one of my personal faves from him.

-

Good. Well I'm glad this met your criteria. Your quite younger than I thought with your back knowledge of music and collection.

Well, I did my b'day--thought I'd plug in my son's for a more current sample BUT I came up with Gloria Estefan's Anything For You, which no one sampled but just straight up sang their own versions of. Here is the one that is the most different from Gloria's version, set to a Reggae instrumentation which doesn't fit the song at all... razz At least he tried! lol

Success! smile I plugged in my son's b'day with Canada and got Terrence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well," and got a sample from Baby Blue Soundcrew's "Money Jane." Sample starts at 1:15.

The radio used to play "Money Jane" quite a lot. That's a sample/interpolation of "Wishing Well"?

It's supposed to be according to the link http://www.whosampled.com/ you provided. That's the first time I've heard Money Jane but the sample sounds similar to Wishing Well to me--a song I've heard many times... smile But, you be the judge. wink

I guess someone logged it figuring Money Jane's hook reminded them of the melody for the first line of Wishing Well's verse "Kissing like a bandit stealing time". Enh! I don't think so razz

lol

A couple major intervals and a deceptive cadence; no wonder I thought Baby Blue Soundcrew was weak. razz
