UNSUNG Special On TROOP
TROOP, they had all the makings of being the greatest act on the planet, especially representing R&B
They had the dancing down pat and the melodies were picture perfect
Their rendition of J-5'S classic ALL I DO IS THINK OF YOU I'm sure did MJ proud
if this group came out today, they'd blow everyone out the water
bad contracts, not owning songrights, was the beginning of their unfortunate demise

I saw a repeat of it over the weekend. I enjoyed it. I always thought that they were underrated among their peers. I think they got caught up in the hype of Hammer's success and assumeed that his brother's label were going be able to create more opportunities for them to succeed. Glad to see that Steven has stayed in the business writting for others. I'm sure he's happy with those writer's credit checks he gets. -

Pretty good episode- really made me appreciate Troop all over again. I hadn't really forgotten about their music but I completely forgot what great performers they were- their choreography was top notch and made doing the running man look fun.
On the other hand, dude (I forget which one) is way to old to still hold down a jheri curl AND the orange "highlight" in his hair in 2014...
Also (and I know I'm not the only one), I had COMPLETELY forgot that I used to watch a lip-synching show every weekend called "Puttin' On The Hits" until I saw the clip on UNSUNG. My wife and I both had a "I remember that show!" moment at the same time... | |
