Madonna Teases New Song, "Messiah"

07.02.2014
Link

Madonna is hard at work on her new album, and she's dropped a tantalizing hint about one of her new songs, which appears to be titled "Messiah."

The Queen of Pop posted on Instagram a photo of the song's sheet music, captioned "Coming soon........#promise#keep."

She added the hashtags "#sorceress" and "#deep." She also posted a video of a group of classical musicians playing a few seconds of a song we assume is "Messiah," since she captioned it with the hashtag "#messiah."

Madonna also wrote, "Magic makes the people come together yaaaaaaaasssssssssss." That, of course, is a reference to her previous hit "Music," in which she sang, "Music makes the people come together."

It's not clear when we'll get to hear Madonna's new music. There have been rumors that she's planning one of those "surprise" Beyonce-style releases, but then again, that rumor has now attached itself to several artists, including Adele and, before she released her latest album in the traditional manner, Mariah Carey.

Here's a snippet of "Messiah" featuring a string section in the studio, which served to pique my interest.

On her new album,Madonna is working with several producers, including Diplo. This is what he had to say about their collaboration:

Question: Speaking of chameleons, youre working with Madonna who is known for consistently reinventing herself. For you as a producer, is that a good thing because youre able to do whatever you want or is it a challenge?

DIPLO: I think with her I didnt know what to expect. I didnt know if we were going to actually make records or not. It was kind of like Id give her a week to see if the chemistry was there, but she was up for anything. I love when an artist gives a producer the confidence he needs to work with them, and Madonna was very very open-minded to my ideas. I really love that. A lot of times Im having to sell my projects and my ideas to them, but she was down from day one. Weve written about seven songs now, and hopefully maybe four or five will make it to the album. Ive done about three weeks with her, and were gonna do some more projects at the end of July. Shes just really cool. I think as far as artists reinventing themselves, she did it before anybody else. She kind of began that trend of actually coming back with a whole new look and style and sound and winning it and hitting the top of the charts. I dont think anybody had done it to that level. She works hard. In the studio, I was Googling her while I was working with her, and shes literally sold like 300 million copies of songs. Shes a force to be reckoned with. We had a lot of fun. Those records are gonna be crazy sounding. We really pushed the envelope with some of the stuff we were doing. The last night we were just having fun, and she was like, Yo, give me some of the craziest shit youve got right now, and we literally wrote a song that night on the craziest record I had. And it worked. All of the best songs happen on a whim.

We already had an extensive string band for Falling Free last time around so it doesn't mean much. Also, Diplo's stuff haven't been that great to me so far, hopefully she gets the best out of him, he's still the most interesting producer related to this project...

I love all of Diplo's solo stuff (pre-fame stuff) and also almost everything he does with Major Lazer, he has an awesome ear. When he works with others that don't give him full artistic lisence though it can be hit or miss.

Im 1000% positive Madge will bang him (or at least try to) so maybe adding sexual energy will bring out some good work.

Change it one more time..

Madonna Posts 'Messiah' Lyrics On Instagram

By Jason Lipshutz, N.Y. | July 07, 2014 12:39 PM EDT

"You are the sun guarding your throne," Madonna (will eventually) sing on the forthcoming track.

Madonna is having some fun teasing her new song "Messiah" on Instagram: a week after posting some sheet music from the track and a snippet of an orchestra performing the song, Madge has now unveiled a handful of lyrics from the hopefully-forthcoming track.

Based on these lyrics, Madonna's "Messiah" is going to be a mystical affair, with "the angels," "the moon," "the sun," and "the sorceress" all making these verses read especially Bjork-y. The caption for the Instagram post goes, "Salvation through Art! #heart #messiah #livingforlove."

Madonna has been working on the follow-up to 2012's "MDNA" with a slew of collaborators, including Natalia Kills, Martin Kierszenbaum, Diplo and Toby Gad. A title and release date for the album have yet to be announced, and "Messiah" does not have a release date either. There are rumors that the "Messiah" song is actually from an upcoming movie called 'The Giver'.

The other new album thread has expired so posting here.

It seems the album is not yet finished, judging by her Instagram post...

http://www.billboard.com/...tion-and-8

Diplo’s phone rings. He answers it, joke-barking, "What do you want?" and then, before the person on the other end can speak, says, "Stop being a little bitch." The next moment he turns serious. "Are you going to be in the studio? I need to get some stuff from you. Text me when I can meet you tonight." It’s Rechtshaid, and Diplo has been trying to reach him to discuss four or five songs they’re working on for Madonna’s next album.

Diplo and Rechtshaid have been in the studio with Madonna for three sessions in New York so far, and are clearly psyched about how the tracks are coming along. "I think three are just like amazing, smashes," says Diplo. "One is super weird. Late one night in the studio we got a little bit drunk and she improvised a little hook and we made a song out of it. I think it’s going to be a breakthrough if she can manage to get everything together and get it out properly." (So what does Madonna drink in the studio? "Rosé. It was nice. I don’t think she really drinks, either.")

The pair linked up earlier this year, when Madonna invited Diplo to her Oscar party. He couldn’t go, but they began texting, and Diplo eventually sent her some music to check out, not really expecting her to take it seriously. "She wrote me back like a 20-page text, notes about all these songs," says Diplo, still sounding surprised. She gravitated to the hook of a track that Diplo crafted with MNEK, a London songwriter who worked on the Disclosure album. When it became a Madonna song, Rechtshaid and MNEK went back into the studio to work out the verses. "That’s what I was talking to Ariel about," says Diplo. "I need those verses. I want to wrap that up. That song is on like version 20. It went from a piano ballad to a 'Turn Down for What'-style song, which I didn’t like. Now it’s somewhere in the middle, which is a more pop record."

Do you think it will be that long until 2015? If she's going to do Australia in the large outside venues she would have to do in their summer which is our winter. So if seems to me she would want to tour there in early 2015 so she would have to have the album out late this year.

Since M last toured Australia, there have been massive indoor stadiums built in most cities so hopefully we wont have to put up with the terrible outdoor venues again.

Then again, I saw Mariah here live about a year ago in an indoor stadium and it was average...but that just might be mariah lol

considering that she's been ignoring Australia since 1993,she should actually begin her tour there this time. Her Australian fans deserve that.

Yeah she really should start the tour in Australia, not only she announced the Australian leg and cancelled it in 2012, she almost always starts in Europe (except RIT & CT) which gets boring and sh exhausts herself towards the last leg. She should start as early as January and then take a break sometime in the Spring before taking over Europe in the Summer and America in the Fall!

Thanks. I didn't know that. So then she wouldn't have to necessarily do the tour in the Australian summer so she could I guess not release until 2015.

I think the new album will be heavily inspired by the Art For Freedom campaign that she started last year. Some songs may deal with injustice, freedom and intolerance.

^^ that news might not be genuine, but I would love it if she did something like that....a concept album and video project. As opposed to just a collection of songs. This time,I want the album to have a THEME...a story being told through the songs.

Madonna has reportedly laid into Lady Gaga and ex-hubbie Guy Ritchie in songs which could end up on her new album.

Leaked lyrics from the track Heartbreak City allegedly slam Ritchie for "getting what [he] came for, a bit of fame and fortune, and I'm no longer needed."

While Gaga, who has praised Madonna as a major influence on her work, is the apparent target in the song Two Steps Behind Me, in which Madge sings: "You're a copycat, where is my royalty?," the Sun reports.

Neither track may actually end up on the new album, but the lyrics show that The Queen of pop, who celebrated her 56th birthday earlier this month, has not lost her touch.

The Sun and The Mirror just published an article about two demos Madonna recorded for her new album: “Heartbreak City” and “Two Steps Behind me.”

Madonnarama can confirm that both songs were recorded with Avicii, but that no final tracklist for the album has yet been decided.

According to the article, “Heartbreak City” allegedly slams Guy Ritchie for “getting what [he] came for, a bit of fame and fortune, and I’m no longer needed,” and that the song “Two Steps Behind Me” supposedly slams Lady Gaga with the following “You’re a copycat, where is my royalty?”

We can also confirm that the lyrics are real and relatively accurate.

Madonnarama can reveal that the song “Two Steps Behind” (not “Two Steps Behind me” as the article states) isn’t directed towards Lady Gaga, but to all younger artists trying to steal Madonna’s recipe. Even though Madonna had fun writing and recording this track, there’s a big possibility that it won’t be included on the album.

“Heartbreak City” has absolutely nothing to do with Guy Ritchie but deals with Madonna’s recent break-up with Brahim Zaibat. We’ve been informed that more than one track on the album is about the ending of their three year relationship which left Madonna more vulnerable than most people might think.

Stay tuned…

I'm sorry but the "copycat" song sounds terrible, the low point of her last tour (conceptually, not musically!) was when she did the Gaga-jab. Is she this insecure? I thought she was above all that, but it looks like she can't fully accept that she's no longer as successful and younger artists have the spotlight? By the way, I expect Miley Cyrus to be featuring on the first single, apparently Madonna promoted Miley's charity or something and then Miley tweeted "living for love" back, which is supposedly a new song title.

the irony is that,Lady Gaga is already starting to fade from the headlines. Her latest album didn't make much of an impact, did it? Madonna shouldn't even be the least bit concerned about her.

What we know is that, in Two Steps Behind, Madonna does NOT mention Lady Gaga or talk about her. It’s absolutely GENERAL.

But we can now reveal that Lady Gaga is instead mentioned in another track that Madonna recorded for her upcoming album. Lady Gaga is mentioned along with other artists like Beyoncé and Jay Z. We can also say that song is about a party with celebrities that have fun and shine.

In Heartbreak City, as well in a few other tracks recorded, Madonna talks about the end of a relationship. It’s not clear if she talks about Guy Ritchie, as The Sun guessed, or maybe Brahim Zaibat.

We can also add that Heartbreak City is a dance track, while the demo of Two Steps Behind is only with a piano. Heartbreak City is a great song with lovely Madonna‘s vocals, while there are plenty of better tracks that Madonna recorded for her upcoming album than Two Steps Behind.

As The Sun hints, they still have to choose the songs to be included on the final tracklist. But we learned that Hearbreak City MAY be included in the final tracklist, because Madonna‘s staff really likes it and they really worked a lot on it.
