Are you putting the use of the N-word on par with someone having tattoos all over their body? Let's get real here. There are too many people who are "offended" that there are people who don't allow themselves to be called derogatory names. People who complain about PC stuff are usually closeted racists themselves. If you aren't the one being racist, what do you care about PC stuff then? It never ceases to amaze me that the main people who keep the so-called PC stuff going are the ones themselves who can't stop talking about it. You're not oppressed because others have the right to put you in check for saying stuff out of the side of your mouth. Should we go back to the good old days of polio when it was perfectly fine to walk down the street and yell slurs at people?

Im sorry I find it ridiculous to label someone a racist for thinking everything has become so annoyingly PC, just generally speaking. I'm gay and very liberal, very far left in my views. I also find it ridiculous when gay people get outraged when someone uses the word "gay" in jest to describe something that they don't like. Of course the very same word could be used in a very hateful, derogatory way as well, it's all about context. If my gay (or straight for that matter) friend uses the word faggot, as an obvious term of endearment I'm certainly not going to fly off the handle in rage over it. If I were walking down the street and some stranger screamed the same word and threw something at me I would be either enraged or scared. I've been called "the f word" in the bad way and no it doesn't feel good, I'd imagine a black person feels the same about the n word. I just don't understand how people can be so totally oblivious to intent and context.

Your comment makes a lot of sense and I think you and I pretty much agree on this issue. It totally depends on intent and context. There are people out there who pretend not to realize this and I think that was the case going on with the person whose post that I originally responded to. I think what you said makes perfect sense because we can't always second guess someone's intention but the way someone says something, tone of their voice and the situation can be almost 99 percent accurate of the meaning that the person wants to convey. This is the part that annoys me about the people who pretend to be against "PC" culture. They know good and well the difference between a good friend calling you a name versus a total stranger calling you or your loved ones a certain name as well. Denial is a powerful weapon unfortunately.

At the end of the day it's all about people showing mutual Respect. White Gay Men don't like hearing Black Christians talk against Gay Marriage and Blacks don't like hearing White Gay Men using The "N" word. Racism in the Gay community is a very real thing even among so-called Gay Liberals..

Ok well if I'm racist because I find this whole story ridiculous then so be it....lol. That means I'm also homophobic as well then, in my case I guess I would be called a self loathing homophobe.

I don't disagree with anything you say, but you kind of just proved my point. While I don't find someone using the term "gay" offensive (after all, it's a WORD....a word that doesn't even mean the same things to different people), I DO find someone trying to roadblock me from MY rights completely and utterly offensive.....especially when it comes from a supposed "good Christian". They can talk about how they disagree with my lifestyle all day long, that's their right but when they try to actively make sure my rights are hindered that's a problem, that's when it's serious. Let's get a sense of context here, fight the REAL enemy.....and it's not Justin Timberlake calling Madonna a ninja and it's not my friend that wants me to turn the song that's on the radio because it's "so awful and gay".

nod that's what I was saying earlier. Why get bent out of shape because a white pop star (who obviously isn't racist) uses the 'N" word (in a fun,playful,joking-type of way)? There are plenty of REAL RACISTS to be concerned about.Fight the real enemy!

Playing Devil's Advocate here, could it be that there's no equivalent racial slur that riles up white people like the n-word does for blacks? I do admit to cluelessness when it comes to black sensitivity to the word only because I'm old enough to take sticks-and-stones to heart. It's a simple case of you going your way and I'm going mine, especially if my rights aren't being trampled on, in which case it's a different story. It's the difference between night and day. In the meantime I'll reiterate again what that nasty old coot Joan Rivers so eloquently stated:

Timberlake is what I call the "new" kind of racist. He capitalizes off black culture but then takes his jacks and goes home, so to speak when there are any issues that effect the black community. He's a pop star when it's convenient and he's a so-called R&B singer when it's convenient. He didn't say a word about Ferguson but is the first one trying to play like he's a black man or has "soul" which is so contrived I can't stand it. He's a poser and he's not above racist sentiments that I am sure were not anything foreign to him especially because he grew up in the south....

JT is not a so-called R&B singer, 'The 20/20 Experience' is one of the best R&B albums I've heard in a while, 'Mirrors' and 'Let The Groove Get In' are the only songs that aren't similar to the R&B/soul style he approached in the whole album. Therefore, JT is an R&B artist, a pop one too.. What's wrong with mixing both? Bruno is a pop artist who makes reggae music, rock music and soul ballads...

You know who's racist? Kanye West. He made Taylor Swift look bad in national television, he bashed many artists for winning awards he didn't win and all of them aren't black.

Justin fuckin' Timberlake is not a racist man. You can tell, I can tell. He might be a play boy, but he's not racist.

Most of the hate JT gets on here is cause he didnt protect little janet jackson when she exposed her tit to the public. Nevermind she was a grown ass woman being in control of whats she says and what she does.

I don't know what's the point of not discussing this.

I'm not saying you should like JT, or dislike him, it's an opinion of yours and that's okay, but being racist is not about opinions, it's a fact, and looking back to the acts JT done in his past, none were racist, even if he projected a little hatred here and there, it was against general people (not necessairly black). You can easily tell when someone is racist. The enviroment, the surroundings, the lyrics... and speaking of the n word (being the pulp of the problem), the word has gone to be 'cool' that everybody uses it, it's one racist word, but it's the truth everybody should accept, even white people call each other that, they think it's cool, and while many take offense hearing it in the public, what the fuck should we do about it? It's not like my bla bla bla or yours gonna put an end to the use of the word, we got ten more years to figure out how cool it is to everyone, even black people will come to a point and say 'fuck it'.... Just like the word 'retarded', you know that world is actually offensive to mentally ill children, or people... but the word was so fucking cool everybody uses it.... and it shouldn't be used, because it's offensive. Facts are facts, we can't handle that, we wish we can, but there are so many people out there busy popularizing many terms we agree are demeaning.

Justin Timberlake is NOT an R&B artist. lol

He is a pop star who occassionally makes poor imitations of R&B music. Whether the intentions are to be racist or not, its not respectful or appropiate to say the N word regardless of what race you are. Justin is a dooche. He has made a ton of inappropiate comments about black people but then wants to make his money off of black musi. He made fun of Prince when he accepted an award for him and then made fun of Rihanna's mother on national television. He is an asshole which is why people do not like him and its as simple as that.

I'm sorry, I don't think that's fair. What is wrong with him being inspired by R&B/Soul music and black culture in general? Clearly he has an appreciation for different genres of music and likes trying different things. I'm sorry, but your assumption he's trying to be a black man and that he must be racist because he grew up in the South is more prejudicial than what he said.

He's a pop star, not a politician, it's not his responsibility to speak about Ferguson because he sings pop/R&B music and appreciates black culture, that is completely absurd. I'm willing to bet had he spoken out, he would've been shut down immediately anyways for speaking on something he thinks he understands because he sings pop/R&B music and appreciates black culture.

Since when impersonating someone was making fun of him?

Here's the thing: Y'all don't like the fact that JT is a white pop artist who makes R&B music (makes him an R&B artist, therefore), you don't like the fact that he's the most successful in the R&B scene, you don't like how he surrounds himself by black musicians, and you think that he's doing it fake, all the soul singing, and the soul music, you don't know that, you don't know if his singing is about passion and love or about making people think "Oh he's doing R&B"... Even if it's obvious that he likes and admires that genre, y'all still can't stomach it, and instead of embracing musical diversity and not picking a lane and doing one genre, you keep hating JT. He's white, mainstream, famous and does R&B, he's directly hated by the org. You take off the mainstream factor, you have a pre-Blurred Lines Robin Thicke and Mayer Hawthorne, no wonder people like them here.

Everytime I see Heres a thing I always think about Nick Cannon's dad and that 2nd grade rant lol

It was disrespectful because he was trying to make fun of Rihanna's mother accent. It was not appropiate. You don't make fun of someone's mother and if he did not want it to be taken the wrong way, then he should have thought of a more tasteful joke that would not be misinterpreted as being culturally insensitive.

Here's the thing, you can't tell me why you think I don't like JT because your not me and you can't speak for me. Now if you are interested in knowing you can feel free to ask me at any time. Whether JT was black, blue, green etc I would still say he is a pop star that occassionally makes R&B music. Thats like calling MJ a R&B artist because of the Off The Wall album. Yes, he made R&B music and that was his roots but he was a pop star.

Of course, you're free to disagree with me as I'm obliged to respect your opinion, but not arguing with a fact, and JT being R&B is one. He's recieved BET awards, won R&B trophies, is regarded by the R&B community itself as an R&B musician. Sad world, isn't it? It's mad obvious that our opinions don't matter. JT, after all, will still be respected as an R&B artist, even if he isn't, even if MJ never touched a child, he's still a child molester in the eyes of the public. Fuckin' media.

No that is not a fact. That is your opinion which you are entitled to have. Be careful not to make assumptions about what you assume one thinks about something if they have not openingly said it themself. There are many white artists that I love that made R&B music Teena Marie, Bee Gees etc so I don't have a problem with that.

Why is awards and what the music industry says a determining factor on how you define an artist? It sad because that is not what defines an artist. It is their impact that defines them. Justin has not made a siginficant impact in the R&B word regardless of how many awards the industry showers him with. Music listeners aka the public do not acknowledge Justin as a R&B singer. He is viewed as a pop star that occassionally makes R&B music. You make it seem like Justin is this underground R&B singer when he has two successful prior pop albums that charted on the pop charts.

Also, you can't speak for everyone in the public. There are many many many people who think MJ was not a child molester regardless of what the media said or says. I think you need to stop listening to the media, propaganda, hype and industry and start forming your own opinions on things. What the media often markets is not a reflection of how the public really thinks.

I was about to take you seriously until you said "EVEN IF HE PROJECTED A LITTLE HATRED HERE AND THERE". Seriously, the prime example of white denial here. I won't bother to read the rest of your comment because it seems that you are either trolling with this kind of comment or clearly not worth me engaging with because we just need to agree to disagree at this point. Thanks.

Couldn't have said it any better! yeahthat

How did JT make fun of Prince in a racist way?

There's a lot of cherry picking that goes on with racism among r&b fans in my opinion.

I don't think the answer has to be "he's a KKK member and should burn in hell" or "well it's nothing, GET OVER IT ANYONE THAT DIDNT like it." Like most things, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

If anyone doesn't get the race politics that have informed his entire career and especially his solo career...by now...they won't.

Dissing Prince, Janet and appropriating MJ to death while simultaneously having bitten them off in every musical and performance way possible ON TOP of the Super Bowl ON TOP of Nsync being the biggest biter of New Edition of ANY of the pop groups of the era AND having the nerve to not only not defend Janet but say some questionable things after that whole thing unfolded and THEN also diss Prince and Janet publically, specifically, in a track with Timbaland...

There is something to all of this...whether it's the public who accept it or his and his management's blame to bear...

it's not 100% nothing, imo.

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

So does Justin do these things purposefully with a hateful and offensive intent? Like he only responded to Princes diss because he thought "he's black how dare he. Now I gotta put him in his place"? Or his pussified reaction to the Super Bowl wasn't because he was young, stupid and scared that he could go down in flames on the cusp of solo success he wanted? He reacted that way because he wanted to see Janet go down in flames because she's black?

Or is it a subconscious thing that he doesn't even realize?

This is what I am more so leaning towards. I won't flat out call him a racist because he hasn't exactly said a racial slur or publicly claimed to be one despite his antics. However, he has done many inappropiate, questionable and disrespectful things towards black artists. I just find it shady because he claims to be inspired by all these black artists but disrespects or shades them. I have never heard him publicly shade or disrespect a white artist like he does certain black artists. Maybe its racism, maybe it isn't but it doesn't make him "likable" to black community.

I think he makes a mockery of black music but then appears to enjoy the status that it brings him. He's an unabashed biter and will forever be. He will have people thinking in 20 years that he's a soul artist and that Al Green got nothin on him. Mark my words. Justin is that uninvited guest that makes sure he's the last one there to say he "closed" the party down when in fact he's the one making the party unbearable. And whoever said he's R&B because he got a BET Award? Please. BET hasn't been black owned in probably 15 years.

I definitly agree. Justin is our 2014 Elvis. Justin could do the moonwalk and the media will rave up and down that he is the King of Pop nuts But if Usher was to do the same thing, they would say he is just copying Michael. I think he goes the R&B route because that is his gimmick and it works for him. He knows that if he does R&B music the media will eat it up. Its "cool" to see a white man do fake imitations of black music but yet soul singers like Anthony Hamiltion or Jaheim who have been making R&B/soul music for years can't get a break through.

So now Justin is racist because he likes r&b and didn't comment on Ferguson? What kind of logic is that? Did you want him to repeat the same generic statements that everyone else said? It's sad, it's a tragedy, etc. What more can be said?

I'm white, I listen to 99% r&b and I can quote virtually every episode of 227. I guess that makes me a racist because I didn't comment on Ferguson?

And no, I don't want to be black just because I like black music and black movies and I doubt Justin does either. I like having contrast between my hair and skin. If my skin turned brown, I'd have brown hair, brown eyes and brown skin. Plus, I'd start being profiled by the whites..no thanks!
