I still don't hear any 'Solange' in the song.. She is featured in it, and yet, I can't recognize her voice.

The video is great, as Janelle clearly proves herself as a true 'feminist' unlike some of her peers who pretend to be.

I noticed that too. But, even on the album version- I can't pick out Solange's voice. I think they edited the song fo the video.

Figures. I never could pick out Janelle's voice in Fun's "We Are Young".

4/12/2013 - Plectrum Electrum "coming soon"

9/6/2013 - Electric Lady released

7/31/2014 - Electric Lady video released

.

I love this song, this album, this video... I was just thinking "damn they are still releasing singles from it", then I thought about Plectrum and how we have been anticipating its release since 5 months before Electric Lady came out. Time flies!

It's a fun vid - though, if I'm honest, I kinda like her whole android 'concept', which, it seems, is being phased out, along with the 'look' that went with it (including the minimalistic black and white, tribute-to-the-working-class 'uniform'. It's not that I want her to remain static in one place if her muse is taking her on to something else; it's just that it seems the corners are being rounded off and she's moving towards a more mainstream look and sound.

I was thinking something similiar. Why oh why, such a long gap between single and video releases. There's always something off in how they handle her projects. It really hurts her chances of gaining any momentum. She deserves better. Just my two twocents

I love it! Really well choreographed and edited; plus she just radiates charisma. This does have less of the Cindi Mayweather android story than most of her other videos, but I am sure she'll come back to that.

MJScarousal - What did you think of Meshell Ndegeocello on Saturday? That show sounded like it had a great lineup. I knew Janelle would kill it, and that people would be divided on Lauryn Hill. What about Meshell? (She is playing AfroPunk in NYC in a few weeks and I plan to go).

GO! Janelle is the best live act right now.

Janelle is a great live performer and great live singer. She is very energetic on stage with her dancing and crowd interaction but she is still able to sing on key. (Which I think is pretty impressive because she sweats and does so much movement) Her whole show is live and nothing is mimed. Her show reminds me alot of the old school James Brown and Prince shows when they just would cut up on stage and do things spur of the moment (which I think is missing from alot of todays live shows).

I have seen her twice and both the shows were completely different. This show she did a cover of James Brown "I Feel Good" which was really cool to watch and wow her voice love

She has gotten alot better with her James Brown moves and she is now incorporating other dance moves.

Janelle had that crowd in the palm of her hand and standing on their feet.

Ohh my bad lol She must have been one of the early openers. I arrived some minutes late I didnt get a chance to catch her. My friend who was early said she wasn't all of that and said she mostly did slow songs. His taste is kinda shacky...lol so I dunno if I trust him.

*lol* about your friend with the possibly shaky taste. I have friends and relatives like that too! Well, after I see Meshell in a few weeks, I'll let you know what I think.
