A couple of purported
Madonna demos from the early 1990s have surfaced online.

The tunes, titled “Shame” and “You Are the One,” were reportedly produced by Shep Pettibone, who worked on Madonna’s 1992 album, Erotica. Both tracks have been linked in the past to The Rain Tapes, a collection of demo snippets from the Erotica era.

^ thanks for the info/ news.. smile

I am not the biggest Madonna-fan myself although I like her biggest hits, and I really like the "Erotica" title song,

these 2 songs ... to me, they sounds like what they are: 2 outtakes.

They don't impress me much...

but thanks for posting, anyway.... biggrin

Shame is excellent; I don't care for You're the One too much though, it's sort of boring.

yeah,"Shame" should have been released,in some form or another. It's a great song

The other track is mediocre and I can see why it was never released.

"You Are the One" is a passionless dance number which was deservingly tossed out. "Shame", however, is a hit that never was. It's quite good.

It's great that songs like these eventually leak for the fans but to me these are worse than the filler of Erotica. I happen to think that most of her B-sides are outtakes are way weaker than her album tracks, except a select few like Supernatural, Love Won't Wait, Like An Angel Passing Through My Room or Triggering.

both of these tracks arent worthy of b side status... orgers need to clean out their ears.

These tracks have been in the net for about 3 years already in a collection called The Rain Tapes.

.

There are also demo versions of Erotica, Fever, Deeper & Deeper, Bye Bye Baby, Words, Cheat (early version of Bad Girl), Goodbye To Innocence, Rain, Thief Of Hearts, In This Life, & a clip called Jitterbug. 28 tracks in total.

I have heard The Rain Tapes...alot of great stuff! Erotica is my favorite Madonna album,so of course I was thrilled to hear the outtakes. It's amazing that so many songs were recorded for that project, considering everything else that was going on in Madonna's life at that time (the Sex book,Body Of Evidence, etc). She was extremely busy in 1992.

The sad thing about motherfuckers making music today is that not only do they NOT have anything really great like "Shame" or "Goodbye to Innocence" which they could afford to leave OFF an LP, they don't have anything ANYWHERE NEAR that good to put ON it in the first place. Then they want to run around on TV and posing for magazine covers and headlining festivals like they've actually done something worthwhile, like they've actually contributed something to the Ameican musical canon more or less on par with those who came before. Right.
