New Monkees Tour Dates! May & June 2014

.

A great deal of fun was had by the Monkees and their fans during the course of the group’s 2014 official convention this past weekend, including Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork all being on hand to receive their plaques certifying the Monkees’ induction into the American Pop Music Hall of Fame. Arguably the most tantalizing tidbit to emerge from the event, however, was the announcement that the trio would be kicking off a new tour in May, one which would be taking them along the east coast and through the Midwest.

.

We know you’ve been chomping at the bit to find out if the Monkees will be coming and walking down your street on their way to a venue in your neck of the woods, but you need wait no longer: here’s where the group’s tour schedule will be taking them throughout late May and early June.

Check back soon on Monkees.com and The Monkees socials for pre-sale/pre-order dates.

.

Tour Dates:

Thu., May 22: Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, Hampton, NH
Fri., May 23: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa – The Music Box, Atlantic City, NJ
Sat., May 24: New Jersey PAC, Newark, NJ
Sun., May 25: The Paramount, Huntington, NY
Tue., May 27: Sands Bethlehem Event Center, Bethlehem (Philadelphia), PA
Wed., May 28: The Palace Theater, Greensburg (Pittsburg), PA
Fri., May 30: Fox Theater, Detroit, MI
Sat., May 31: Star Plaza Theater, Merrillville, IN
Sun., Jun. 1: Riverside Theater, Milwaukee, WI
Mon., Jun. 2: Weesner Family Amphitheater (Music in the Zoo Concert Series), Minneapolis, MN
Wed., Jun. 4: Uptown Theater, Kansas City, MO
Thu., Jun. 5: FOX Theater, St. Louis, MO
Fri., Jun. 6: PNC Pavillion at Riverbend Music Center, Cincinnati, OH
Sat., Jun. 7: Hard Rock Live, Northfield (Cleveland), OH

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

2014 Summer Tour Guide

Michael Loccisano/Christian Peterson/Ethan Miller, Getty Images

Our 2014 summer tour guide is here to make sure you don’t miss any of the great rock concerts hitting the road this summer. It looks like it’s going to be a fantastic season for live music, and we’ll help you map it out.

After all, bands like Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers Band, the Eagles, Kiss and Motley Crue — some, sadly, for the last time — are set to crisscross the country over the next few months. You quite literally are going to need a scorecard to keep up.

And that’s where we come in. Sharpen your pencils as we run down 2014′s must-see shows as part of Ultimate Classic Rock’s 2014 Summer Tour Guide …

Aerosmith / Slash

July 10 to September 12

Aerosmith has pledged to 'Let Rock Rule' alongside friend Slash. The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist has been finishing up work on a third album with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, while Aerosmith released its first studio project in 11 years with 2012's 'Music from Another Dimension.'

The Allman Brothers

August 14 to October 28

The Allmans are set to quit the road after guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks announced they were leaving. But not before rescheduling some missed Beacon Theatre dates and adding a few more. If their fiery performance at June's Mountain Jam is in any indication, these guys are going out with a bang.

Boston

June 5 to August 31

Boston is in the midst of its biggest tour in ages after releasing 'Life, Love & Hope,' the band's first album in 11 years. That project featured some of the last recordings with late singer Brad Delp; Tommy DeCarlo and David Victor are handling vocals these days. The Doobie Brothers also appear on select dates.

Chicago / REO Speedwagon

June 26 to September 14

Chicago and REO Speedwagon team up for a double dose of Illinois rock. Despite sharing a label in the '70s, this will be their first time touring together. Meanwhile, Chicago is set to release its first new studio effort since '06 this summer; REO's most recent project was 2012's 'Live At Moondance Jam.'

Elvis Costello

June 11 to October 29

Elvis Costello is in the midst of a solo tour, marking the first time he's headlined without a full band since 1999, when he played with keyboardist Steve Nieve. Costello released ''Wise Up Ghost' in September, a collaboration with hip-hop group the Roots.

The Doobie Brothers

June 17 to October 31

When not appearing with Boston or Peter Frampton, the Doobies will be doing a series of their own stand-alone shows beginning in late July. They have been at work on an album featuring re-recordings of some of their biggest hits, which will include several of country's biggest stars as well as former Doobie Michael McDonald.

The Eagles

June 16 to Septmber 10

This is a continuation of the on-going 'History of the Eagles' shows, named for the documentary of the same name. But there may be more to it than that. Glenn Frey has strongly hinted that this could be the group's final tour, although he and Don Henley have also teased a new album.

Peter Frampton

June 20 to September 21

Frampton will play individual shows into the fall in addition to his dates with the Doobies. Highlights include a concert with Randy Bachman and seven shows with Buddy Guy. Frampton will also issue 'Hummingbird in a Box,' an EP that grew out of his collaboration with the Cincinnati Ballet, later this summer.

Billy Joel

May 9 to August 2

These appearances are in addition to Billy Joel's dates at Madison Square Garden, where he's participating in an on-going, on-demand residency. Notable stops elsewhere include Chicago, where in July he will become the first musician to headline Wrigley Field twice.

Journey / Steve Miller Band

May 15 to August 1

Journey, Steve Miller and special guest Tower of Power all boast Bay Area roots. That shared history, Journey leader Neal Schon says, all but ensures some late-concert jam sessions together. Schon has just released a new solo album, while Miller's most recent project was 2011's 'Let Your Hair Down.'

Kiss / Def Leppard

June 23 to August 31

There's more than music to this outing from Kiss and Def Leppard. As with Kiss' last North American tour, $1 from each ticket sold will go toward several wounded warrior groups. Veterans will also be brought in to work the tour as part of the 'Hiring Our Heroes' campaign.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

June 12 to November 16

Lynyrd Skynyrd's nearly 40-date 2014 tour slate culminates with an appearance during the eighth Simple Man Cruise, set for November. The band, scheduled there with Foghat and Starship, has already confirmed that this will be their last cruise. Skynyrd's last album was 2012's 'Last of a Dyin' Breed.'

John Mellencamp

June 20 to August 1

John Mellencamp is appearing this summer in a series of venues he hasn't performed in since the '80s. After that, Mellencamp will prepare to release a new album. He says he's composed some 85 new songs since 2010.

Motley Crue / Alice Cooper

June 21 to November 22

If you plan to see Motley Crue in concert, this is your last chance to do it. The band says their aptly titled 'Final Tour' will be just that. A new Crue album is highly unlikely, but work on a film version of the band's biography 'The Dirt' was to begin this summer. Alice Cooper joins them as special guest.

Queen

June 19 to September 1

Original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor will mount their first world tour with ex-'American Idol' finalist-turned-glam rocker Adam Lambert, who has been standing in for the late Freddie Mercury on assorted dates since 2009. They'll play North America through July, then hit Asia and Australia into September.

Soundgarden / Nine Inch Nails

July 19 to August 25

Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails co-headline one of 2014's more curious tours. Remember when Trent Reznor slammed Soundgarden's Chris Cornell for hiring Timbaland as his producer back in 2009? Never mind! Reznor has since issued NIN's eighth album, while Soundgarden's last project arrived in 2012.

Ringo Starr

June 10 to July 19

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr returns with the 12th incarnation of his All-Starr Band lineup, with him since 2012. That includes Steve Lukather, Gregg Rolie and Todd Rundgren. Lukather has also collaborated on a forthcoming new solo album from Starr.

Rod Stewart / Santana

May 23 to August 20

Titled 'The Voice, The Guitar, The Songs,' this tour features two hall of famers who had never worked together before. Rod Stewart and Carlos Santana met up on stage back in May for a scorching version of Etta James' 'I'd Rather Go Blind,' and that song has become a centerpiece of this on-going tour.

Styx / Foreigner / Don Felder

May 16 to July 27

Styx, Foreigner, and Don Felder aren't just sharing the stage for the Soundtrack of Summer tour. They also got together and recorded a new version of 1976's 'Hotel California,' which Felder co-wrote for the Eagles. Styx and Foreigner are alternating as closing act, with Felder serving as the opener.

Toto / Michael McDonald

Toto and Michael McDonald, who collaborated on the 1986 hit ballad 'I'll be Over You,' reunite on a shared bill. Toto has just released a CD/DVD concert recording from last year's 35th anniversary tour, and are at work on a new album -- their first since '06. McDonald's last album was in '08.

Yes

July 8 to August 24

Yes completed a new album called 'Heaven and Earth' before hitting the road. The focus of these shows will be their 1971 and 1972 albums 'Fragile' and 'Close to the Edge,' but a smattering of new songs -- their first with lead singer Jon Davison -- will also be included.

ZZ Top / Jeff Beck

We just might have saved the best for last! Jeff Beck will play a set, followed by another from ZZ Top, and then the two will meet up for what promises to be a series of epic collaborations. Beck is at work on a new album; ZZ Top released 'La Futura' in 2012. Their only previous on-stage collaborations were in 2009-10.

Katy Perry’s Tour To Feature Kacey Musgraves, Capital Cities, Tegan & Sara:

Katy Perry is adding some high-profile support to the North American dates of her upcoming Prismatic World Tour. While Icona Pop will be opening for the songstress during her UK dates, she’ll be joined in the United States and Canada by Capital Cities, Kacey Musgraves and Tegan & Sara (covering three different regions as the tour moves through North America).

Capital Cities will tour with Perry from June 22 through August 7, covering East Coast shows; Kacey Musgraves joins on August 10 as the tour moves through the midwest and central Canada; then Tegan & Sara come aboard on September 10 as the tour moves down the West Coast and through the South. (Not sure why Canadian electropoppers Tegan & Sara are playing Memphis, Tennessee while country star Musgraves is performing in Calgary, Alberta — but hey! Best not to argue.)

http://blogs.citypages.com/gimmenoise/tegansara500.jpeg

Regardless, it’s a testament to Perry’s exceptional taste — all three artists are critically beloved with rising commercial prominence — and it should make the Prismatic Tour all the more worth seeing.

Global Independence Day Celebration In Italy

Orvieto4Ever, Global Independence Day Celebration to feature Grammy Winner Kacey Musgraves and Oscar Winner Kevin Costner and Modern West on July 4th, 2014.

The Event will take place at the Piazza di Duomo, in front of the Duomo di Orvieto, the world famous Cathedral built over the course of three hundred years from 1290-1590 and both acts will be accompanied by a one hundred piece orchestra directed by composer Paolo Vivaldi. Ms. Musgraves’ performance will feature orchestrated symphonic arrangements of songs from her award winning album, “Same Trailer, Different Park.”

The Event was founded to promote and recognize the fundamental values set forth in the Declaration of Independence along with recognizing the contributions of Phillip Mazzei, the Italian whom Thomas Jefferson frequently consulted with and who is credited with coining the phrase "All Men are Created Equal." Jefferson then set forth the passage which followed stating that all of mankind is "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Marco Bosco, founder and co-host of Orvieto4Ever, explains "These concepts were used not only to start a new country but also as a basis for defining individual rights and freedoms the world over and are still being used today which is why celebrating July 4th on a global scale is long overdue. The Duomo di Orvieto is the perfect place for Jefferson’s concepts to come home. He speaks of a higher power who created mankind with equal rights and this Cathedral was clearly built by men who were inspired by a power they thought to be much greater than themselves."

Dream Loud has already planned to bring additional simultaneous Global Independence Day events to Istanbul and Stockholm in 2015 with more cities to follow in the coming years though Orvieto will always remain the flagship.

Hosting the show with Bosco is Tony Renis, one of Italy’s most respected figures in entertainment known world wide for, amongst many achievements, his hit song Quando, Quando, Quando and for his Golden Globe winning writing and production of "The Prayer" featuring Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. Also collaborating is entertainment executive and artistic director of The Voice Italy, Gianmarco Mazzi who will announce an additional headliner for the show in the coming weeks. Premium VIP Ticket Reservations can be requested at Tickets@Orvieto4Ever.com.

Matt Schofield on Tour

The new album, ‘Far As I Can See’, from guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Matt Schofield in 2014. Schofield is lauded as the British blues guitarist of current times. Guitarist magazine said, “There isn’t a better British blues guitarist playing currently”. With his first release for Provogue, Schofield finds himself as representative for the long tradition of British Blues on the ultimate blues guitar label, and gaining a home amongst his peers – the world’s greatest contemporary blues players.

The Schofield story is exploding internationally; the world is sitting up and taking note. Back from another well-received US tour, Schofield is expanding his borders. The LA Times stated, “In Schofield, the UK has produced the best blues guitarist from any country in decades. Head and shoulders above the herd.” Vintage Guitar magazine said, “The best of his generation’s European blues players. His feel for the music is incredible. His playing is so interesting that latching onto his records will reward any guitarist.”

The new collection finds Schofield on stunning form, well able to justify both his fearsome reputation and also the sense of anticipation around this release. Alongside two choice covers from his musical heroes, the album’s nine original tracks showcase his continued growth as an exciting songwriter within the genre, delivered with impassioned vocals to create a diverse and unique take on the blues. “Far As I Can See’” is his fifth studio album. He has also released four live collections, and a guitar instructional DVD for publisher Hal Leonard. The recipient of major awards – British Blues Awards Guitarist of the Year 2010, 2011 & 2012 (making him the first guitarist in the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame), Mojo Magazine Blues Album of the Year 2011 and British Blues Awards Album of the Year 2010 – he imbues this album with stunning musicianship; but never at the expense of heart and soul.

Matt Schofield was rated in the top ten British blues guitarists of all time by Guitar & Bass Magazine alongside such icons as Eric Clapton and Peter Green. His prowess as a blues guitarist has seen him trade licks with iconic guitarists like Buddy Guy and Robben Ford; and brought him high praise in the ‘Penguin Book of Blues Recordings’ as one of only two living British artists to gain a maximum four-star rating.

Paul McCartney 'Feeling Great,' Reschedules Tour Dates

"Everybody's been asking me how I feel," he said energetically in a YouTube video posted Tuesday. "Thank you very much for asking!"

The word came from the 72-year-old Beatle great via an energetic YouTube video he posted Tuesday. Those dates have been rescheduled for this fall, too, including the addition of his first ever Greensboro, N.C., show at the Greensboro Coliseum on Oct. 30.
