Yes I've seen this video before, its one of my favorites! Love seeing the Hernandez men up on stage doing what they do best. Thanks for posting! biggrin

As for the Emmy Award nominations, I dont know when they started nominated super bowl halftime shows...I heard Beyonce's was also nominated but she didnt win (thankfully! lol)

Lemme guess, Beyonce's people paid off the Emmy board to start nominating people for Emmy awards for Superbowl performances. She's a hack. Pays for her fame, all style no substance.

Glad you enjoyed the video smile I wish I were going to MSG tonight to see Bruno but hopefully someone here on the Org is and will post about it. Glad that he's getting to do arena tours now. Now, if we can just get Prince and Bruno to collaborate on something biggrin...

YES! clapping I'm glad more people are realizing that this chick pays for her "accolades", awards and PR. All that hype and the media kissing her booty and most of her awards or nominations she "gets" is because she's got money and she's got a great PR team that she pays to keep her name out there and hype her up like she's a legend in the making rolleyes

The difference between her and Bruno is that Bruno actually IS a legend in the making and he's doing his thing without using the Hollywood hype machine and paying for awards and publicity and such.

It would be wonderful if Prince and Bruno were to collaborate on something or even if Bruno got to hang out with him during a jam session sometime. Idk tho, it seems like Prince prefers to collaborate with females tho lol The only guys I can remember him ever collaborating with is Lenny Kravitz and Larry Graham.

Review of Monday night's concert at MSG:

Review: Bruno Mars electrifies Madison Square Garden in New York SPECIAL

New York - Pop superstar Bruno Mars played a sold-out, headlining show on July 14 at New York City's Madison Square Garden, as part of his "Moonshine Jungle" tour.

An Atlantic recording artist, Mars shared the stage with Pharrell Williams, who is best known for his chart-topping single, the upbeat "Happy."Mars commenced his set with "Moonshine" and it was followed by such vocals as "Natalie" and "Treasure." He delivered on "Billionaire" and he made the up-tempo Barrett Strong classic "Money (That's What I Want)" his own."Marry You" was a stunning performance and the wedding bells ringing in the background were addicting."If I Knew" was performed as a medley with "It Will Rain," meanwhile "The Lazy Song" had a laid-back vibe to it and it connected well with the fans. He brought out the delicacy of the lyrics in the piano-driven ballad "When I Was Your Man," and it was followed by an impressive piano interlude, prior to him singing the crowd-favorite "Grenade" in an explosive rendition that featured pyrotechnics, laser lights and Mars playing the guitar. Listening to "Locked Out Of Heaven" in a live setting was a great deal of fun. Mars closed with his signature song, the Grammy-winning "Just The Way You are."

It was a crisp vocal performance that incorporated neat choreography from his back-up dancers, which his fans could not help but sing along to. Towards the end of the song, he treated his fans to a remix of the pop tune. The pop sensation had the entire crowd singing the chorus of "Just The Way You Are" back to him, which was a moving moment of the evening, prior to introducing his talented band members during the outro. His encore featured "Gorilla" as the stage was lit in alternating laser lights of different colors, which was quite the spectacle, and the best way to close his show.

The Verdict:

Overall, Bruno Mars showed his fans that he was on fire at New York's Madison Square Garden. He had great stage presence and his whole team put on a superb production. Pharrell Williams was a fantastic opening act. Their show garnered an A rating. It ranks as one of the two best concerts I have seen this year at Madison Square Garden, along with Armin van Buuren's"Armin Only: Intense" tour. For more information on Bruno Mars and his tour dates, check out his website.

Review of Tuesday night's concert at MSG....AND LENNY KRAVITZ WAS THERE AND THEY BOTH PERFORMED...TOGETHER! faint

Bruno Mars duets with Lenny Kravitz in NYC

He came, he saw, and he conquered Madison Square Garden by himself on Monday. But on Tuesday night, Bruno Mars bought some backup.

The second of the Hawaiian’s “Moonshine Jungle” dates at the world famous New York City venue featured a surprise guest appearance from Lenny Kravitz. The rocker performed a version of the 1993 hit “Are You Gonna Go My Way?” with Mars and his band, topping off an already scintillating set.

A slew of famous fan showed up to the gig too including Anna Wintour, Charlotte Ronson, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde.

I don't know you but can I slap you right now in a fit of jealousy? wink That's cool that Pharrell was there too. Interesting that you said the majority of the fans were older. How much older do you think? It's odd to have an arena full of tweens, 20 somethings and beyond for an artist that's still pretty new. Good for him. He's a refreshing artist smile

I don't think a day has passed in several consecutive months where I don't hear about this chick. I absolutely believe she pays off people to keep her name "relevant". The media usually has a short attention span unless you give them a reason to keep talking about you. Even that goofball Rhianna knows how to take a break and stop shoving her name down people's throats smile

I think Bruno is all of those things you said. He's a gifted performer that has really caught the attention of a lot of people because he's one of baddest new performers that has been out there in decades. Bruno could fire all his PR team if he wanted to. He doesn't really need it. His music speaks for itself.

Too bad about Prince's ego but maybe one day he'll call Bruno wink

I was watching one of the clips from the MSG concert and for a brief second when they had the lights on the crowd, I was like, "Wow, there really ARE a lot of older people there!" LOL. Yeah, he's old school and I think people like him because he's pretty straightforward with how he performs. He puts on a suit and tie and then dances, sings, entertains like crazy. To me, it doesn't seem like he relies on gimmicks much.

^Thanks for posting those JoeBala! smile

SO I'm a little late for posting this, but I did go to see Bruno in concert on June 18th (my birthday! woot!) so here's my review:

IT WAS GREAT! BRUNO AND THE BAND SLAYED! I SCREAMED! I SANG! I DANCED! AND IT WAS WONDERFUL! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

That is all. The End. biggrin

lol Ok but really, I dont have too much to say, Bruno and the band put on a great show as always. I saw him last year and had the priviledge of seeing him again this year--I especially had to go this year since he decided to hold a concert for me in honor of my birthday dancing jig razz

He gave it his all this year just as he did last year, and he an the band are still as tight and in sync with each other as they always are. I think the show this year seemed a bit more polished than last year's show, however there seemed to be less spontaneity and audience interaction-mainly due to the fact he no longer does the pickup lines during the "If I Knew" song and instead leads the audience in a sing-along.

The song Gorilla has been cut short, he eliminated one of the verses from the song when he performed it instead of performing the full song like he did last year.

There were some other slight changes I noticed in this year's show from last year's show: like some of the graphics on the LED screens i.e. last year during the song "Moonshine" he had colorful, exotic birds flying across the screen. Now during the song the birds have been replaced with the word MOONSHINE flashing across the screen with some retro looking graphics. Not quite as stunning as the birds but it looked good. There were also a few different ad-libs thrown in throughout some of the songs. I also noticed that during Runaway Baby he does this schtick now where he yells out to the audience "(city) If y'all are gonna get quiet we gonna get quiet too!" and starts singing "A little bit softer now..." and his band gets quiet and crouches on the floor till they're practically silent while Bruno is doing some dancing lol Then they get louder as they get off the floor and continue with the song.

I did appreciate the subtle changes he made to the show--it shows me that he's really dedicated to his craft by keeping his show fresh and not being content to perform it exactly like how he did last year. The only thing I'm bummed about is that he performed the Lazy Song at the show the previous night but did not perform it at the concert I was at pout

Overall Bruno knows how to put on a spectacular show--the guy can sing the roof off, jam on the guitar and drums, dance....he knows how to perform and he and his band (all who are seasoned musicians) do it VERY WELL! I've said it before and will say it again, Bruno will be around for a long time! nod

THE TOURBOOK:

This year's tourbook pictures were all done in black and white, instead of color like last year's tourbook. And featured mostly pictures of Bruno--in last year's book there were a lot more pics of Bruno and his band interacting with each other so you really got a sense of the comradarie and friendship they all shared. Not so much with this one. There are a few pics of him and the band performing on stage from what looks like the 3rd leg of the tour. But the rest of the pics were of Bruno and I have a bit of a pet peeve with some of the pics being from old photoshoots...from like, 2011 neutral *sideeying whoever's decision it was to included those old pics in the book*

My verdict: I like last year's tourbook better because it was more colorful and more appealing to the eye (the whole black, white & grey color scheme of this book is rather ho-hum and boring imo) and it featured more shots of Bruno hanging out with his friends who also happen to play in the band wink

**Extra special highlight of the night for me:**

So I got to experience something a little extra special that few others probably got to experience that night...meeting a member of the band! biggrin

It was before the concert started and me and my dad (yes my dad came along, again lol) were sitting in our seats and I was flipping through the tourbook when I heard someone behind me say "Excuse me". I looked up and there was a lady sitting 2 rows behind us. She asked me if she could look at my tourbook and I was like, sure! So I handed her the book. She told me she was looking to see if her son was in the book.

I was like, eek Who is your son?! And she said Predley is her son. And I was like eek You're Phredley's mother? He's cool! I like Phredley! And she looked and me and asked, How do you know Phredley? lol I told her that I was a big fan of Bruno and his band and that I watch alot of their performances (online) so I know who each member is and that I thought Phredley is excellent and very talented.

For those who dont know, Phredley is the lead guitarist in the band and also the musical director

http://cfile28.uf.tistory.com/image/2349D83B526CC588284EA0

He is also from Detroit so he was performing close to his hometown that night. So his mother and I talked for a bit. She herself is a music teacher and she told me how Phredley got to be in the band and how Bruno made him the musical director. And this guy can play 16 instruments! eek She's really nice and thanked me for letting her look at my tourbook.

So about an hour or so later, during Aloe Blacc's opening set someone tapped me on the shoulder. I look up and it's Phredley's mother, pointing at Phredley who was standing next to her. She pointed him out to me and he came over and shook my hand. I told him how much I loved the band and thought he was so talented and that it was my birthday and etc. I had to shout it at him tho cuz the music during Aloe's set was loud lol but he heard me and he wished me a Happy Birthday and said it was nice to meet me. I asked him if he would sign my tourbook and he did biggrin

So it was a great birthday thumbs up!

ETA: There was also some guy that was standing next to Phredley talking to him and his mother before he left to get ready for the show. I later found out that guy was Lady Gaga's musical director.
