love 4 the bar-kays

4 those that dont remember much about the bar-kays, they were the backing band that played on issac hayes's 1st 3 albums and they also backed oits redding... a lot of people counted them out sayin they sounded like earth wind & fire, then as they went in2 the 80's sayin they got 2 electronic... the thing i loved about it and all their songs were their lead vocalists sherman guy's and larry "d" dodson's voices...,by the way i think larry along with sugarfoot from the ohio players was the orginator of the "owl" vocal b4 lionel richie michael cooper and larry blackmon from cameo but its all good lol ... my fav songs from them are
attitudes( funky mid tempo number puncuated by larry d's soul influenced "owl" and their mighty horns)
antitcipation ( for a band that critics said got 2 much in2 drum machines the guitar on this sounds a lot more bluesey than pop)
struck by you(ultra funky sweatin on the dance floor cut influenced by the go-go sound of d.c.)
runnin in and out of my life(ol skool soul highlighted by strong drums well arranged vocals and bright brass)
shine(sounds similar 2 ewf's on ur face but they added a lil more brass n strings and rolled the bassline)

All the original members of the Barkays died in Otis Reddings Plane crash. Except one member. He missed the plane babysitting a sick little girl. Yours Truly. I had the flu and was vomitting. He stayed behind with me. Just imagine still being in the airport and being told people you just say were dead. He had to go on for them. Trivia question who was that one member?
sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.
