Artists Changing Beliefs

i notice people always complain about artists changing. Changing minds on things that have to do with money usually. You know the story...

You like an artist who's ''anti establishment'' and fights for the youtH! and doesn't do it for the fame or top 40 hits or commercials.

Maybe at one time an artist you like was really disturbed. Wore makeup, had long hair, and was all about ''be yourself fuck the world'' etc.

Well... people grow up right? artists need money, they have kids, they mature, they learn new things in life, they get married, they get divorced etc. This is why i get annoyed when people complain about an artist not sticking true to who they are.

For example, people bitch cause of the way Trent Reznor looks. I hear people complain ''oh he got all buff and cut his hair! he used to be scrawny and used to represent the weirdos. Now he looks like a regular ole jock''

Or Metallica cutting their hair, or when Nas did a commercial with gap, or Iggy Pop had his song used for those vacation commercials.

Artists change... and the way they think changes. Your favorite isn't going to be a sad, depressed, lonely, angry, angsty kid when he's 40. Least i hope not...

That's the thing...whether Prince changes direction a little or a lot, I have never seen such garment rending, weeping and knashing of teeth. You would think the damn world was ending. lol

I swear, I think some of them will commit suicide if he puts out an album they don't like or if he refuses to do a reunion tour with the Revolution.

What about these two

.

Cat Stevens changing from a commercial Greek/British Christian song writer to a Islamic ascetic and getting deep into mystical Islam.

.

Bob Dylan going all Christian in the late 1970s, I think he snapped out of it.

.

Rumours that Michael Jackson had become a Muslim and changed his named to Mihal.

.

Madonna moving into Kabbala

.

Prince becoming a JW and repudiating a lot of his back catalogue due to all the swearing and sex references, now he sings his more sexually and porfanity enhanced songs with changed clean lyrics.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Bob has gone through many phases in his career. I think he's at a good point now smile

When Madonna went to Kabbalism... she made her best album Ray Of Light. She actually worked hard on her music and didn't worry as much on image. That didn't last long though lol wish she would have stuck with it.

Cat had that event happen where he almost drowned. I think after that he was a changed man in many many ways. He still seems somewhat the same smile all happy and hippy after all these years. Even with the entire religion thing going on.

As for MJ... don't know about that one.

Al Green, anyone?!? nod This man still has soul regardless if he singing his greatest r&b/soul hits or singing traditional gospel.

In a case of "joining the dark side of the force", how about Katy Perry? Her carrer started out in Amy Grant-inspired CCM and then Katy made to switch to EDM/dance-pop and has been such a successful Illuminati-driven pawn ever since.

Maybe they should follow Rod Stewart. He's had the same hairdo for 35 years.

Little Richard has also been back and forth with the Lord. Overtly gay since a child, Richard had a lot of musical talent. In his teen he sang gospel and praised the lord, yet he also played blues, dressed up as a drag queen and had sex with multiple men and a few women. He hit the big time in 1955 with the song "Tutti Frutti" and had a rock and roll lifestyle for the next2.5 years scoring hit after hit.

.

He first found God in late 1957 on a tour in Australia, where he found God protecting him during a bumpy flight, and when he arrived in Sydney, he gave up rock and roll and "Threw all my rock and roll Jewels into the sea".

.

After that he went to Oakwod college and trained in the ministry, he nearly got threw out when he came on to a man and exposed himself, but was ordained in 1961 and relased 3 religious albums that sunk without a trace.

.

He somehow ended up back in Rock and Roll after a successful tour of the UK in late 1962 and 1963, where both the Beatles and Stones saw their idol. Richard tried to rejoin the world of music between 1964 and 1973, where he rerecorded his old hits, toured a lot, tried to have new soul sounding hits like Bama lama, bama boo, and "I don't what youve got, but its got me". In his group at the time (1965) was Jimi Hendrix, who was fired for being tardy and trying to upstage Richard on stage.

'

He was a live staple into the mid 70s, where he repudiated his religious leanings and became flamboyant and very effeminate acting, there is an interview from 1970 where he goes on about his beauty and the fact, that he was the "Bronze Liberace". In this period, Richard acted like a stereotypical effeminate Black homosexual man. Yet he was also zonked out of his head on cocaine and other drugs, (A 1973 Interview where he speaks on Hendrix, he is stoned beyond all belief).

.

However Richard got a wake up call in 1977 when his brother shot himself and he realised the drugs were out of control and cleaned up his act, went back to the Lord and started preaching, this pahse lasted until about 1985, and its noticed when Richard speaks of his Bible giving to Prince. Yet despite his religious convictions, Richard remained flamboyant acting into his old age and was known for his glued on Jheri curl hairdo, his outrageous patter "Shut up!"

.

Yet he revelled his new found fame as the architect of rock and roll and the first to go "Whoooo!!" and now seems to have a happy mixture of being camp as a row of pink tents and also a humble servant of the Lord. Its a great life and very funny yet sobering to anyone.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

The Beatles released Yesterday & Today with the "butcher babies" cover, but they all later became vegetarians. Paul has also done ads for PETA. George Harrison was raised Catholic, but changed to Hinduism.

Ronnie Milsap started out as a soul/R&B singer in the 1960's but switched to country around 1974.

.

Joe Simon abandoned secular music and became a bishop.

.

The Beastie Boys started out with a frat boy party image, but later became spokesmen for different causes like Tibet.
