Yeah I remember seeing this when it happened, and I'm STILL blown away by it now seeing Fantasia's energy. She KILLLLED it.. there's no comparison between the two. I love the way she's grinning at the end cuz its like she knows she blew the roof off.

Change it one more time..

She was awesome! The crowd went wild during her performance, and Patti was into it. Unlike Tina, who only stood up at the end of the song and didn't seem overwhelmed (more like embarrassed).

Fanny is really the one who should have done the tribute to Tina. Vocally, she has always reminded me of a young Tina. They probably choose Beyonce for the dancing. But, vocally??? Only in her WILDEST DREAMS:-D can Beyonce be compared vocally to Tina. Now, Beyonce would have been the proper choice for a tribute to Janet Jackson but for Tina, that was an embarrassment.

Yes, Fantasia did shut it down. However, she did NOT shut Beyonce down. Why can't people just say that Fantasia was GREAT and she was. Why try to diminish Beyonce's performance, because she was GREAT also. Now, about Patti's reaction to Fantasia, yes Patti was into her performance. Fantasia came into the audience and interacted with Patti. Do you actually think that Patti wouldn't have interacted with Beyonce the same way? Tina seemed like she was into Beyonce's tribute to her. I was watching how she was smiling. I truly think that Tina would have reacted the same way it it had been Fantasia singing. Tina seemed to have that "refined, laid-back attitude". It had nothing to do with Beyonce. Again, BOTH Beyonce AND Fantasia did an AWESOME job singing their respective songs.

I don't think that Beyonce did an AWESOME job. She was ok. I'm not going to lie.

Patti was sooo into Fantasia before she came out into the audience.

I'm saying....

I don't get the comparisons. All this playing these women against each other is redundant. Beyonce performance may not have been "awesome" to some and that's fine. But Belittling one to make the other look good is getting tiring and childish. Why not just enjoy Fantasia if you're a fan of her? If you don't care for Beyonce, shit ignore her or don't watch her. That's what I do with people who calls themselves artists that I don't care for musially. Some folks act like they're going through a personal battle with Beyonce with the way they try to come for her. lol The same goes with certain folks and other artists. We have our good days and our bad ones. And we all know Fantasia can be a bit extra....trying to be like Patti, kicking off her shoes on stage and stuff. lol People might enjoy that but I'm going to leave that for patti to do because I enjoy it better. Bottom line is both ladies have talent in their own right and I respect them both. I may not be a huge fan of Fantasia but she does have talent and I or no one can take that away from her and I wouldn't try to.

Oh and Beyonce did not lip"sync".

Both of these women are gorgeous and quite talented.

Its all really about what you like. I wouldn't call it a shutdown, but I certainly prefer Fantasia's performance.

Beyonce really can't be outworked on the stage. She is high energy and sings well while being high energy.

Fantasia sings as if she really doesnt know if she will have the ability to sing tomorrow... which is great for anyone listening. Fantasia sings "100% all in". Plus, big, BIG UPS to sing in the face of and have direct eye contact with a legend while singing that legends song in front of thousand os people - and sound excellent all the while. I would be willing to put big money up that most people would fold (forget the words, not directly at the legend, voice cracking, etc) under those circumstances, or not agree to do it at all - not to mention walk down the stairs and through the audience.

You know something. You are right. I prefer Tasia lol but she has a few songs
that are bland too. I don't hate Beyoncé it's just that I expect more than what
she's given from a musical standpoint because she is talented. Her music since her first album with the exception of a few songs have been sup par for me. Believe it or not I actually like her as an actress more so than a music artist. I can watch Obsessed and Fighting Temptations anytime. I'm over all the Beyoncé put downs and
the recent Janet thread was nauseating and beyond childish.

I agree. To me its amazing how any other singer can be constructively criticized but for some reason when it comes to Beyonce people make all the excuses in the world. All of a sudden people are haters or "putting someone down" if they don't like something she does. lol I think its pretty childish that people can not be constructive when it comes to her. If this had been Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Bobby Brown, Prince, Chris Brown, Kanye West etc they would have been trashed for that lack luster performance and nobody would have made "excuses" for it either. Fanny had the better performance. The whole world is not going to come to an end but it is what it is.

Wow I missed this too. They both did a good job. It seemed like Beyonce just did a tribute and copied Tina's moves, whereas Fantasia made it her own and sang the shit outta that song. I enjoyed both they are just vastly different in their styles.

Yes. I just don't get it. This is not highschool. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with comparing music of artists and junk like that I mean hey, it's music and we do it BUT when I see all of the "Mariah Carey can destroy this one" and "Beyonce is not better or better than this one" or "I hate this person because blah blah blah" how could you hate or dislike a person you don't even know personally? I also can't stand the people who don't want you to give any criticism about the people that they like because they know that artist is the end all and be all at whatever they do.
I love Beyonce but I can agree that a lot of her music is mediocre with the exception of some but I just don't get the undeniable hate she gets from some folks. It's mind boggling. These women probably are friends and or respect each other and either ones work and while people sit on the internet making it their business to try and play these women against each other, these ladies/entertainment folks are out making their money either way.

To be clear, I did not say anything about hate. All I am saying is that Beyonce's performance wasn't awesome and that Fantasia did a good job even though I did not expect it. I feel that it is okay for me to say that as my opinion. So I hope that people are not getting all mad at my opinion because it is only my opinion.

People say stuff about Shakira all the time and even mock my liking Creed but hey, it's not my fight. If people don't like them it's not my job to make people stop saying stuff about Shakira or Creed, that would be Shakira's job to shut people up. I'm not emotionally invested in it. shrug
