Apparently he was/is the UK version of D'Angelo and is revered over there, yet never seemed to break through here. How come?

Huge fan of Omar. A must see Live. Unbelievable vocal range. I remember

going to a gig in the Manchester academy 2 with a friend 8 years ago. The

place was absolutely empty, there must have been about 40 people in the venue.

However the man was the ultimate professional and performed a great set. Sung

Acappela on one song when the band were having problems with the sound.

It is crazy how a man with such talent has never smashed it in the USA.

Stevie Wonder and Badu are huge fans and have performed on his albums.

I would love a Prince and Omar project.

To me, Omar is one of the greatest and definitely the most consistent r'n'b artist of the last couple of decades. I think there are two reasons why he never made it big. First of all, as already mentioned, record label issues. It took 4 years to get his biggest hit There's Nothing Like This released in the US. Secondly, his nationality. For some reason, it's seems very hard for any non-domestic r'n'b acts to make it big in the US.

But Loose Ends, Five Star and Soul II Soul made it big here.

True and some others too, but still not many compared to the number of pop and rock artists from the UK who have made it big there.
