I mean,, C'moon!!!!!! sad music music headbang A great hybrid of funk, rock, jazz...

Plus, if you put your headphones on, you could actually hear the sound of Doves crying throughout the Prince verse.

yes, very good indeed

its problem though? that amongst so many standout tracks on the album it fades a bit in comparision

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Primetime is a masterpiece no matter how shades Miguel gets from these guys here lol Guitar solo composition and everything..

Queen with Erykah also had that funky guitar line, that funky vibe, that jazz funk aspect that was very present back in the day with Parliament and Herbie Hancock.

Almost every track shares a good nostalgia, but all originals and jams to be remembered.

I wasn't crazy about it it to start with, but it's grown on me a lot, parly from seeing her do it live. It works brilliantly as an opening number, especially with the build up as she's wheeled onstage in the straightjacket to the sounds of the overture, then slowly comes alive as the guitar line starts up. The backup singers/dancers' movements also add to the feel of the whole thing for me.

I feel the same with Electric Lady, another of my favourites from that album, which really gains an extra dimension in performance. Again, the dancing (on the chorus, as well as the "Ooh, shock it, break it, baby!" bit at the end) is simple but really effective in bringing it to life. I've watched the performance clips from Arsenio Hall and Jools Holland clips umpteen times as I love her energy. cool

Exactly! The best thing about her showmanship is that her dance moves are simple and yet they add so much to the whole picture, she doesn't do like other pop dancers who balantly work on some bland choreography and perform it on stage like the show is only about dancing.

Janelle is very talented, she is def the most underrated artist in our generation in terms of a lot of things; the whole thing she does doesn't get any serious & global regconition, and that's because her lyrics connect under a whole other level, she changed it a bit with her second album (It sounded more catchy) and YET people still don't know who the hell she is, blame it on her marketing plans, or maybe blame it on the crap we listen to on the radio that set the bar for a whole lotta worse music to come in the next years.

I guess they were intending to be avante garde, by twisting every knob on the recording console in the opposite direction of common sense. The song itself is nothing special, actually it's kind of under-written lyrically, imo. I do like the energy of the track and I bet it is compelling live, but what is it about this recording that deserves more props? Is it the guitar? What am I not keying in on that makes it special?
