Fleetwood Mac U.S. tour to begin September 30th

The full Rumours era line-up is finally back together and set to hit the road later this year.

Let's hope that there's a new album on the horizon too.

Rumours is still in the UK top 50. lol It seems that this album will never die.

It peaked at #3 at the beginning of last year thanks to an anniversary re-release, it hasn't left the charts since. 15 years on the UK chart and counting!

Commercial performance

Rumours was a huge commercial success and became Fleetwood Mac's second US number one record, following the 1975 eponymous release.[40] It stayed at the top of the Billboard 200 for 31 non-consecutive weeks,[15] while also reaching number one in Australia, Canada,[38] and New Zealand.[53] In May 2011 it re-entered Billboard 200 chart at number 11, and the Australian ARIA chart at number 2, due to several songs from the album being used for the "Rumours" episode of the American TV series Glee.[54][55] The album was certified platinum in America and the UK within months of release after one million units and 300,000 units were shipped respectively.[56][57] All three major US trade publicationsBillboard, Cash Box, and Record World—named it Album of the Year for 1977.[58] After a debut at number three, Rumours peaked at the top of the UK Albums Chart in January 1978, becoming Fleetwood Mac's first number one album in the country.[36] In February, the band and co-producers Caillat and Dashut won the 1978 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.[40] By March, the album had sold over 10 million copies worldwide, including over eight million in the US alone.[58]

By 1980, 13 million copies of Rumours had been sold worldwide,[59] a figure which increased to nearly 20 million by 1987.[60] By the time of Fleetwood Mac's reunion tour in 1997, it had sold 25 million copies worldwide.[61] The amount rose to 30 million by 2004, and to 40 million by 2009.[62][63] As of 2012[update], Rumours has spent 488 weeks in the UK Top 100 album chart and is the 14th best-selling album in UK history and is certified 11× platinum by the British Phonographic Industry, the equivalent of three million units shipped.[57] The record has received a Diamond Award from the Recording Industry Association of America for a 19× platinum certification or 19 million units shipped, making it, as of 2012[update], the sixth best-selling album in US history (by number of units shipped).[64]It is also certified 2× diamond by the Canadian Recording Industry Association after shipping two million units, it debuted at No. 1 in Canada when it was released with sales of 59,000,[65] and 13× platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association, the equivalent of 910,000 copies shipped.[66] By 2006 it was also certified 5× gold by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie for shipping 1,250,000 copies in Germany.[67]

Good interview. As I was reading it,I started to think of Prince and how he doesn't understand how "special" and amazing a band reunion can be.Fans go crazy over stuff like this! Christine speaks of the special bond that she has with these bandmembers.I recall an interview where Prince was asked if he misses Wendy and Lisa and he said "Nope...attachment is stagnation" confused it's sad that he looks at it that way.To him, people are disposble and can be easily forgotten.

It's odd that he won't commit for even one tour.

Perhaps he's too attached to the notion that he always knows best, hence his own stagnation in recent years.

I'm planning on going to the MSG show in October. I don't care how much tickets are! I rarely say that for any artist. I've seen Stevie Nicks several times, but I have never seen the superstar lineup of Fleetwood Mac and I just need to treat myself! cool

I'm going to the Oakland show. I'd much rather take BART over there than drive 100 miles roundtrip. I saw them last time in Oakland anyway. Hopefully, you will make both shows, so I can see ya. smile

Fleetwood Mac 2014 reunion tour with Christine McVie announced - see dates

03/27/2014 by Corinne Heller

Fleetwood Mac is set to embark on a North American reunion tour in what will mark the classic rock band's first concert series with keyboardist and singer Christine McVie in 16 years.

The news was announced on Thursday, March 27, on Fleetwood Mac's website. McVie had rejoined the group several months ago.

"It's official! After a 16-year absence, Christine McVie will be re-joining Fleetwood Mac band mates Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as they launch the On With The Show Tour," the announcement said. "The tour will kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center and the reunited band will perform 34 shows in 33 cities across North America. Christine has not toured with the band since 1998's The Dance Tour."

Tickets go on sale on Monday, March 31, on LiveNation.com.

News of the tour comes months after the band canceled tour dates in Australia and New Zealand because bassist John McVie was being treated for cancer. John said on the "Today" show, in an interview that aired on Thursday, that he's "getting better."

Why did Christine McVie quit Fleetwood Mac?

Christine, who was married to John for eight years before divorcing in 1979 and wrote and sang songs such as "Don't Stop" and "Say You Love Me," left the group in 1998, saying she wanted to return to her native England. She has since attended Fleetwood Mac concerts to watch her former band mates and performed with the group at a couple of concerts in London in 2013.

Christine said on the "Today" show that she has indeed rejoined Fleetwood Mac -- with a "definite, capital 'YES'" -- and explained why she left the group.

"I had a fear of flying," she said. "I hadn't flown for 15 years."

"She didn't necessarily have to burn as many bridges as she did. Everyone sometimes wonders whether or not there might have been more of a middle ground for her to strike, not necessarily in terms of her staying in Fleetwood Mac," Buckingham told Los Angeles radio station K-EARTH 101 in 2012. "But she just wanted to reinvent herself. She seems to want to lead the antithesis of the life she led before, and I don't pretend to understand such a radical change but it was obviously something she needed."

Nicks told the UK newspaper The Daily Mail in October 2009: "Christine had been having panic attacks before gigs and was developing a fear of flying, but she kept everything bottled up inside. Then, on the night of the Grammys, she told me she simply couldn't go on any more."

"When you love someone as much as I love Christine, you know instantly when they are serious," the singer added. " 'I told her she needed to go home immediately, and she did."

Prince is never gonna do any of the things we think "he should do". I mean we can run down a LIST of things we all have thought he should do

1. Like Pearl Jam, release live shows to cut down on shitty bootlegs, NEVER happend

2. Use your web site to release Vault stuff like alot of bands do, well he started doing this then got bored.

3. Release all those videos that have been bootlegged all over the place, NEVER happend, not even an effort to do it

There are so many things on this list that he can do, i mean there are artists that dont have the "backlog" of unreleased stuff of his FAME to pretty much get it all out there, but dropping a track every 6 months if your lucky, is a half-assed effort. I get the whole "im not under contract" thing but his reason for breaking free was to be free to release alot and what he wanted, i havent really seen any change in his output outside of the fact that its dropped way off. But it is what it is I dont even think about HIM doing something that someone else is doing that looks good, because he is himself and they are who they are, nothing will change his ways.
