I'm really looking forward to this. I participated in a live video chat with Chaka a couple of nights ago and she said she will be covering topics in this episode of Being that normally don't come up in interviews.

As far as an album is concerned, she's still talking singles. She previewed a couple of songs, "I Know the Thunder" and "The Man Who Speaks From the Soul", which sound really great - way better than last year's "It's Not Over". She said they decided to go in a different direction with the album to inject more Rock & Roll into it but she's saying there are no plans at this time to release a complete, full-length album. mad

I'm not sure what I think about the single's strategy.. she'll make a bigger splash with a CD than with singles that will most likely not get any airplay.

Change it one more time..

I agree.Singles, for the most part, are for young audiences. They're the ones that go to iTunes and buy 'em.They're the ones that bought a zillion copies of "Blurred Lines" last year lol Older people prefer to buy albums.Chaka's audience is made up of old school folks like myself, lol.

Chaka's best move is to sign with a small label and get her CD released. There are many small, independent labels who would love to release a new Chaka Khan album. She's a well-known,legendary artist.Gladys Knight,Jennifer Holiday and others have released new albums recently,on small labels. There is no reason why Chaka can't do the same.

I 100% agree. But, I was watching an old interview she did back in 2005 or 2006 on The John Walsh Show. She mentioned the reason why it was taking so long to release "Funk This" was she refused to release another album where she didn't own the masters. So this may very well have a lot to do with why she is against releasing another full length album at this time because she can't find a label who's willing to put promo dollars behind her AND allow her to own the masters.

Did anyone catch her episode of Being last night??? Best documentary I've seen on her yet! I was a bit surprised when she revealed she is currently estranged from her son. She said she has no idea where he is. He's had so many problems over the years. I hope he's able to successfully conquer whatever he's going through.

Crowd funding, CROWD funding, CROWD FUNDING CHAKA!!! Fuck the labels. They ain't never gonna give you what you want. Go to your public. You get to do the music you want to do without interference from label heads. You own your work. The only thing a major label is good for is promotion and getting your music on the radio. All this waiting and holding off on releases is ridiculous. Time's a waistin'. Ain't none of us getting any younger. TICK TICK TICK. Rant over.
