Brand X, Be Bop Deluxe, Lucifer's Friend and Roxy Music

Brand X is pretty well known so i really don't have anything of importance to add to the conversation.

I would say that the majority of Brand X's songs are Fusion oriented, so Cambodia is somewhat of a anomaly( in their catalogue).

Brand X-Cambodia(Do They Hurt?-1980)

Be Bop Deluxe were a British band that in the 70's released some very good Rock/glam influenced albums. The guitarist and main member of the band(Bill Nelson)is a smokin guitar player and has released some very good solo albums.

Be Bop Deluxe-No Trains To Heaven(Axe Victim-1974)

Lucifer's Friend is a German hard rock/ Prog Rock band that in the 70's and 80's, released a number of albums. Their first album sounds like it could have been written by Black Sabbath, but their latter albums have a more progressive rock feel. I'm not sure if they were an occult band or not but either way, they did release some pretty cool albums.

Lucifer's Friend-Thus Spoke Oberon(Banquet-1975)

I like how Bitter Sweet starts out slow, gets kinda chaotic, and back again.

Excellent band.

Roxy Music-Bitter Sweet(Country Life-1974)

My first girlfriend thought Be Bop Deluxe was the greatest band ever. I've been meaning to explore their music. Thanks for posting that and jogging my memory!

No problem Rodeo.

As far as Be Bop. Their music reminds me of bands like T Rex, David Bowie, New York Dolls, Roxy Music, Alice Cooper and to a lesser extent the Beatles. The sound of those bands plus a little punk and New Wave mixed in.

Their sound kind of changed a little from album to album. One album might be a little more glam-art rock and the other might be more "Rockin". And another might have more of a New Wave influence.

Anyway as a band, i think their guitar playing is what made them stand out from some of the other 70's bands that didn't make it super big. Bill Nelson(guitar)had a nice style of playing.
