What do you think of Lana Del Rey?

I purshased her Paradise EP and Born to Die album, her voice is just mesmerzing, when you hear a song of hers its like you're in a late 80s neo noir film, a David Lynch picture, she uses a very low tone and that is amazing. cool

My favorite song of hers is Ride, Video Games is also good, her cover of Blue Velvet is a goat. Not to mention her last year's it Young & Beautiful (for The Great Gatsby flick) gained critical acclaim and many were upset it didn't get her an Oscar nod. Her albums are basically a long ride on the road, calm, psychedelic sounds and strange lyrics.

I'm sure many of you heard her music over the past two years, I think she might be the next best thing in mainstream music:

Love love love Summertime Sadness (remix). I haven't really given her a chance though.

She seems to like a wannabe Nick Cave. Who himself is a rip off of Screamin Jay Hawkins.

Love her as well. Her sound and voice is imediatly identifiable. Hopefully she doesn't crash and burn, but at the moment i think we are witnessing another Icon in the making.

Not a fan at all. I've seen her perform on tv a few times and she does nothing for me.

Same here. I couldn't help but wonder what all the fuss was about.

Identity

Her "Young and Beautiful" song outshone everything else on the Great Gatsby soundtrack. I think she will have staying power as an artist.

The first time I saw her was on SNL. I was like WTF. I thought they were kidding me and had brought in someone off the street to perform. It was awful.

She's had some nervous performances and has copped to being one, but when she's on she sets a dramatic mood. That's what I like most about her, her flair for the dramatic. "Purple Rain" is argueably Prince's best work and I'd argue that the high-stakes drama inherent in the work is it's strength.

Is that where that line "My p!ssy taste like Coca Cola" comes from? Sometimes I watch LGBT Ballroom on Youtube and in the scene that's a popular line.

Bland, boring and mediocre.

But, according to her, her p*ssy tastes like Pepsi cola...so I guess there's that. lol

I like her in small doses... Her music isn't something that I could listen to on a continuous basis...

I like her songs but I've been told she's quite disappointing as a live singer!
