He's actually not difficult to understand...it's just that he always tries too damn hard to seem like he's sooo profound that it comes off sounding like, hmm

At least he's answering the questions. It was actually an interesting read to me. If he were just throwing all of those words out there and saying nothing then I'd say he was talking out of his ass but there was actually substance in all of that "artsy-fartsy" talk so I'm ok with it.

Well, he has(d)(?) one of the best voices of all time, imo, his cover just topped everything...

I wish he could make a strong comeback..

I really would like for him to be on unsung but I don't think it would go because:

1. Something tells me he wouldn't want to be on a "black channel" ( I could be wrong)

2. He'd start speaking like THIS. Would you imagine how hard it would be to edit it and have it make sense?

But I think his story is Hella interesting and he seems to make the most sense when he takes about the evils of the industry and how his head got too big.

I wish his story was told.

I'm sure he'd be fine if he would drop the pretense...for me it's a bit much.

As someone suggested above, his story would make a good Un-sung episode if he could tone it down a bit.

You gotta read into it. It's pure shict and honestly at the same time. But I can dig what you're saying though. I don't he'd do unsung, but they can do it without his concent right? Although he does love to talk. David Lee Roth vibe. lol

I don't think the MJ RUINED MY CAREER angle would work. But I can totally see it. Mike being like LOOK EPIC, I'm YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER. DON'T BE STUPID! mad
It shows how shrewd and ruthless he could have been when it called for it.

Believe you me, I understood every word he was saying. I was wondering what did he mean about the FBI and CIA watching him and MJ. If you notice in post #3, that was the only statement I put emphasis on. He also stated that MJ ruined his career? He has said it before MJ died in an interview like 5-7 years ago that MJ ruined his chances.

Actually, he said the same thing in an early 1990s interview when he was still TTD, but he didn't actually say Mike's name, but you could figure out who he was talking about from the clues. But in the earlier interview, TTD implied it was some of Mike's "people" that talked to then CBS Records about not promoting his 2nd album Fish Nor Flesh.

So, is it confirmed that the CIA, FBI, and Sony has something to do with it. Because there's heresay that these three may possibly have something to do with MJ's death.

There's documented information of intel agencies having dossiers on various celebs but for him to count himself amongst them is lol

Same with the MJ story. He seems to be interjecting himself into things that had nothing to do with him for some strange reason.

Sorry, but I've missed that.

I don't remember what the magazine was and it probably wouldn't be online, but I found some other interviews from 2001 & 2003 which says a similar thing. The 2nd is a translation from Dutch done in Google translate, so it's kind of broken English.

.

Between the making of my first and second albums, the people at Sony changed. I was in a similar situation to George Michael, where the people who had signed me were understanding of my music, but the new people seemed to think they should tell me what to do as an artist. There was another situation too, in that the label's major breadwinner, who can't be named at this time, made it clear if my second album [Neither Fish Nor Flesh] was promoted, he'd take his business elsewhere.

.

According to the singer also had the record and his management a hand in his rapid decline. Were played behind the scenes games. I was in the same record as Michael Jackson and his managers were afraid I would pick away his audience. So they tried to sell me to a new target. They asked me seriously for to melt into a new Michael Bolton with a tan.

51! wow i had no idea.

I was just listening to Symphony Or Damn today strangely enough.

I must say though.. i know that people bring up the MJ thing a lot when it comes to his 2nd record. And i love the Fish record but i don't think any of the songs would have been hits.

To Know Someone Deeply was released as a single and that is the only one i could see somewhat as a single. Otherwise it is an album meant to be heard all the way through and not meant for a lot of singles.

Symphony Or Damn on the other hand had a lot of great singles choices ala Delicate, Let Her Down Easy.

Yeah he did not mention him, but most people knew who he was talking about. The CIA/FBI might be the reason he moved to europe, but who knows. So many things that goes on in showbiz that people don't know about and he shed some light on alot of it, but I'm sure there is alot more he won't talk about.

nod Probably my favorite commercial release from him. I've lost track of his most recent stuff. Last thing I bought was the Joker's Edition of his "Wildcard" album. Which was good too, mad filler though. Too long.

This was my favourite part:

He (MJ) was truly, though a part of a tradition, one of a kind, and never to be seen again. And neither do we deserve to see his kind again.

I wish Sananda would one day start collaborating with other musicians again. His guitar, bass and drum playing don't do justice to his great vocals.

This was cool...

He kinda goes back in forth with praising Michael and then oddly implies Michael sabotaged his career.

I am a hugeee fan of intellectual, scripted, read between the lines, mobo jumbo "talk" but what the hell was he talking about with that? LOL He sounds real big headed and bitter.

TTD was an entirely different beast from MJ. TTD was a hardcore musician.. NOT an entertainer.

So, the comparisons people make to him and MJ hell the comparisons HE MAKES about MJ Make no sense.

There voices to me are not that similar... there musical style is honestly pretty different. TTD went from rock, r&B, pop. To alternative rock, soul, metal.

They are not the same at all... i just don't see it.

I agree. Terence was more advanced musically. I'm thinking TTD meant commerciality. I personally think he signed with the wrong company. CBS already had MJ and George Michael. Goodness knows he would've been stuck in Warner. He could've signed with Motown and Motown could've kept up the momentum they had when Rick James ruled it. But as stated Terence was allegedly far from the only artist that MJ had a problem with on a commercial sense.

Those rumors could be true... but idk man.

I just don't see any singles from Neithe fish Nor Flesh getting into the top 40... and i don't think the album would have sold a ton. No matter HOW MUCH it was promotoed.

That album is for sure not a mainstream record... if you make a record like that expecting to go multi-platinum circa 1989/1990 lol

I've always seen TTD as a guy who listened to the same music Prince did, but took his influences in a whole different direction. D'arby was more influenced by soul and early rock while Prince was more influenced by funk and glam rock. I feel like the two would own a lot of the same records if we were to view their collection.

He mentions Mike (+ Lionel Richie & Prince) in this 1993 Arsenio Hall interview too. It's about the images of black male performers that had a big crossover base.
