ibdo gotta say, i never thiught Issac Assimov's hairy ass would enter my realm of thought during a terrific ballad. I suppose it should have happened already, especially in the light of mushrooms and roses, seeing as how the cyborg aspect is much more prevalent there.

Sad to see that Dance Apocalyptic & QUEEN never charted in any country...

People should hear those songs, otherwise Janelle has to get out of Bad Boy Records, they're the worst label out there, she should join Atlantic/Elektra to promote her music.

QUEEN charted in the U.S I think but like at number 30...don't know why primetime isn't available on itunes yet people around on twitter and all were really excited about that song and what the label does? absolutely nothing! she has always the worst treatment around, the worst treatment for one of the best artists out there..it's just sad.. confused but you're totally right you don't even imagine how I feel to see her on that shitty label and seein' her talent I hope she is still there for contractual reasons I heard years ago that diddy signed her for at least 4 suites...now she has expended the project but she should be free now taht the 4 suites will be released..I really hope so...you're right she should go on bruno mars label..they did and still do a really good job with him...

Excited to see her perform in the iTunes festival.. biggrin She'll for sure perform the new songs from her album.

and speaking of the album, I'm surprised it isn't leaked yet! That'll force people to buy it which is good.

The album is there for listen on Deezer and some other places. The Prince song is good - some nice falsetto and guitar!

"Dorothy Dandridge Eyes" is the best song on the album, yet its instrumentation borrows heavily from "I Can't Help It" (Stevie's composition) and the score from the Emerald City Hotel scene in The Wiz. It's basically an uptempo replication of the two combined with George Benson and Santana/Prince-style guitar layered in, but nice nonetheless (even though an Esperanza bass solo was strangely not featured as expected).

/

Overall, the methodology of the entire record is similar to Bruno Mars' usual song format: Every track sounds extremely familiar to those who've studied soul/r&b/fusion of the 70s and 80s (although without sampling per say), however the package will be considered "wonderfully and refreshingly new" to most others who are not old school music aficionados.

Sadly, that's how I'm feeling about the album. It's well produced, but it all sounds so familar. It's like a really eclectric piece of art that has been shrinked wrapped. I really like Janelle though. I guess its just really hard for today's artists to really push in new directions and yet remained accessible. It's still a good, solid effort.

[Janelle]
I am sharper than a razor
Eyes made of lazers
Bolder than the truth
They want me locked up in the system
Cuz im on a mission
Blame it on my youth

Too long ibeen out here on my own
Now im 'bout to bring it home
Like a rolling stone
I aint never been afraid to die
Look a man in the eye

[Chorus j/p]
I came to give ya what you love
Oooh its time to give you what you love
Imma give you what you love
Give ya what you love

[Prince]
I am sharper than a switchblade
First and last of what God made
And that's the truth
(Bud?)man keep on tryin' hold me back
While another chickenhead come home to roost
Too strong, try to do me wrong
And the last one standing _____
And commands you to dance...dance

Tell your preacher and your teacher

Chorus

[Janelle]
U better take your time, take what you love
Baby just enough, but never too much
Baby take your time, take what you love
And when that baby cry, (you better work?) with that baby
Take your time, take what you love
?????
Won't you gimmie what you love

Gonna give you some love

Nifty horn/guitar break

[janelle]
Two times _____ ceiling
_____
When they walked in the room, We didn't know what to do
One looked at me and i looked back
She said, "can you tell where the party's at
She followed me back to the lobby
Yeah, she was lookin' @ me with some undercover love
?????

A couple rtis i couldn't decipher to save my life...my bad

And copy and save somewhere...they might get taken down...and i cant type this up again on this phuckin phone screen.

but even without a lot of record label promotion, how can she not be a lot bigger than

she is right now? i mean, at least get a top 20 position with those songs? that duet on

her new album, with miguel, that is just absolute top 10 material.

you'd think that with facebook and twitter and the general critical acclaim, more sales

would follow. but sadly for her, it appears that they don't

i find that especially sad because here, finally, is a very talented

and positive rolemodel artist with an edge and a sincerity that in

this day and age is a rare thing. yet mily circus still sold millions

more records. that's just sad.

^Well Electric Lady hasnt been officially released yet, it wont be out until Tuesday. After it's released then we'll be able to get a better idea of how well it's doing. I'm hoping that she'll have really strong 1st week sales. I definitely plan on picking up a copy (maybe even 2!) and I will be streaming it on Spotify all day Tuesday smile

It is sad but I will continue to support and pray for her because she is a very special person and artist. She truly deserves to be a superstar which I cant say for majority of the ones that are today. I am so excited for her because I have a strong feeling she is going to blow up pretty soon

the single with miguel isn't out yet ..the video will be released soon..we'll see how the single will do after it will be released ..queen charted at number 30..she was never a single kind of artist though more of an album artist...I don't think her album will do bad.. in Ireland it was released yesterday or 2 days ago and it was number 6 on itunes...and she has absoultely no promotion there..and she was number 1 or top 10 in a lot of states in the R&B chart...also on amazon she is doing good..we'll see and cross fingers she deserves this..

Keith Urban and 2 Chainz will probably be the only artists out this week that could keeping her from reaching No. 1. I'm still rooting for her though. I really like her new joint!
