1990-93 were THE best years of the 1990's. Everything slowly went downhill beginning in 1994. No need to rank anything. lol

er

C'mon guys, this makes no sense. At least try something like a "best albums of the 90s" thread or something like that. Having said that, there's not much that I like. Britpop, hiphop, grunge, nu-soul... no, thanx. shake
But... A lot of 70s funk acts were coming back and I got to see Bootsy, Larry Graham, Johnny Guitar Watson... That was cool!

1999 (greatest year for music)

1998

1997

1992

1995

1993

1996

1991

1990 (aside from the Rhythm Nation singles, Mariah's debut and Faith No More's "Epic," the year was lousy)

1994 (a truly awful year, thanks to the death of grunge and the rise of punk)

How on earth would you even go about doing this? Ranking the best albums and singles of 1 year — separately — is a near herculean act, and you mean to tell me you guys can just rank the totality of each entire year in order? Wouldn't singles released in later years be competing against their parent album? This makes no logical sense to me. I know it's not my thread, but I would love for someone who's posted already to explain their logic. No judgment, I'm just fascinated there are so many lists already.

my list was based on the quality of the albums released each year...(based on my taste, of course)

That's cool. Was there a set number you considered? Did really bad albums have a negative effect? Or maybe you just listed all your favorite albums of the decade and then sorted based on number per year? I'm just trying to wrap my head around how to go about doing this.
