Aretha Franklin - Who's Zoomin' Who

I know this is a bit out of step with her 60's and 70's work, but damn! this is one fine pop album, very 1980's and very dance-able, one of the best pop albums of the 80's i reckon, right up there with "Bad" and "Don't Be Cruel".

1. Freeway Of Love
2. Another Night
3. Sweet Bitter Love
4. Who's Zoomin' Who
5. Sisters Are Doing It
6. Until You Say You Love Me
7. Ain't Nobody Ever Loved You
8. Push
9. Integrity
We're here, might as well get into it.

My favorites are "Another Night" and "Until You Say You Love Me".

"Another Night" finds Aretha in Tina Turner territory and she pulls it off with no problem music

I recently got the reissue of this album from Funkytowngrooves and I really like it. I never had the album when it was popular (I'm not a huge Aretha fan). It is definitely one of her best works.

You can tell that, with this album,Clive Davis really wanted Aretha to score big on the pop charts. He wanted this album to be MAJOR.It contains a rock/pop song ("Another Night"),plus collaborations with the Eurythmics (who were extremely "hot" at that time),Peter Wolf of the J.Geils band, and even Carlos Santana, who plays guitar on one track. The strategy worked. This album sold over a million copies and was Aretha's biggest album in years.
