Lionel Richie one of the best funk singers yes or no

IF we exclude Lionel 's solo career and take Commodores as an example, can we say that Lionel is one of the best singers in funk? I say he is.he took a bit from Leroy Sugarfoot Bonner and highlighted the trafemark owwwa to another level.Lionel 's funky vocal displays the best on songs like Slippery When Wet, Fancy Dancer, Funky Situation, Young Girls Are my Weakness, and many others. What us your opinion?

Yes for sure before he morphed into writing more pop songs. We have talked about this a few times. I think a couple of people tried to point out that the Commodores didn't start out as a funk band because their pre Motown music had a little Jazz fusion sound but once they started hearing what other bands were doing
and the success they were having they had no choice but to sign with Motown and get with the Funk explosion. Their first 5 Motown albums were pure funk/r&b and Lionel had the trademark Owww/Yeoww vibe like fellow frontmen Sugarfoot,Sly Stone,Larry Dodson,Larry Blackmon, and Michael Cooper.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
