I just Discovered Bill Nelson

I was on You Tube doing research on a product I needed servicing. I saw a topic on “hydroponics,” got curious and clicked on it. The background music playing was a song called “Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape” by Be Bob Deluxe/Bill Nelson. I was freaking mesmerized. My gawd, that guy played the hell out of that guitar! Reminded me of our man, Prince. Come to find out, this guy has been around for ages, and I just discovered him! I searched for more of his music and caught a few videos of his live concerts. Judging by the folks in the audience, he has a very large following of folks aged 50+, my generation. Lawdamercy, now I’m going to go out and spend a fortune on his music. He is simply outstanding! If you, like me, never heard of him, check him out on You Tube. Bill Nelson speaks with a British accent, but I haven’t done a Wik search to find out where he’s from, but wherever it is, he should be a national treasure. With the last name Nelson, I wonder if he's kin. Sure, It'a long shot, but they both are gifted guitarists.

This:

http://www.amazon.com/Fut...y_m_text_y

is an affordable way to acquire most of his early stuff with Be Bop Deluxe.

Scoop up this:

http://www.amazon.com/Liv...y_m_text_y

and you will have pretty much all of the Be Bop Deluxe era material.

Paligap knows Bill Nelson very well, if I remember correctly.

I only have this Be Bop Deluxe compilation, but I like it very much and would like to hear more.

Besides the one you mentioned, these songs in particular were favourites of mine:

I also have this Bill Nelson solo comp, but I've only listened to it a handful of times and have very vague memories of it. It didn't leave much of an impression on me other than it was very mellow, perhaps ambient in places, but it's been so long since I listened to it that I really don't want to make any kind of judgement on it.

I've always wonder if this song influenced Purple Rain.
