R.I.P. Hugh McCracken, Renowned Session Guitarist

Session guitarist supreme Hugh McCracken has passed. He has played with a who's who of the music industry: Roberta Flack, solo albums by Paul McCartney and the late John Lennon, plus Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Hall & Oates and Caryly Simon to name a few.

R.I.P Hugh, another great loss.

This is Hugh playing so sweetly!! "Nice!"

Steely Dan tune "Hey Nineteen" run through some processing to eliminate most of the center channel, which in this case brings Hugh McCracken's guitar part to the front of the mix. It is interesting to listen to because you can hear some of the subtle details and nuances of his playing that are normally masked in the mix. I hope you enjoy it and if anyone would like me to process a particular song in this way, just let me know. Thanks for watching.

I had to do a gig about a month ago that included playing Hey Nineteen.

I used this very clip to learn some of the subtle but important guitar parts Mr. McCracken played.
