I will officially start this thread devoted to the upcoming Unsung episode on

I liked their commentary on some of the Unsung episodes. I WILL be watching.

I'll be watching too. I've always liked "The Whisters" but I don't know much about them, so I'll definitely be tuning in.

I'll be ready. These guys have had plenty of songs flashing across

r&b radio long before Rock Steady. This is just one of many. Leon

Sylvers helped shape their sound in the early 80's. I see even his

fellow band members from Dynasty wrote this particular tune.

^^yeah,the Whispers were on a roll in the 80s.One big jam after another! The hits kept coming at a rapid pace."This Kinda Lovin" is one of my favorites.Lately,I've been listening to the Love Is Where You Find It album....that's their best album,imo.The song "Emergency" is one of their most underrated singles.

Definitely looking forward to hearing their story. The one song of theirs I never liked and I can't explain why is "Rock Steady." Love alot of their late 70's-early 80's tracks.

I have some Whisper's singles downloaded from several years ago but i don't have

any of their individual albums. I might have to pick up a few on a vinyl hunt. I remember

There was also the song, I'm Gonna Make You My Wife. I heard that one in a movie during the wedding scene. That was the first time I heard that one, and immediately loved it.

The Whispers really had so many great songs. I'm glad this group got their own Unsung episode. I'm going to listen to their stuff today.

Look for the Love Is Where You Find It album.You can't go wrong with that one.The entire album is superb.I'm sure you're familiar with the first single "In The Raw".....that is a solid jam!! "Turn Me Out" and "Emergency" are the other uptempo highlights.And then you flip the record over and you got four great slow jams in a row..."Say Yes",title track,"Only You" and "Small Talkin".

I can't say enough good things about this album just get it!

I loved the episode! I love their loyalty to one another. And to have the group stay together for 50 years only having to replace one member during it's whole tenure? Wow. That's really something to say.

And my goodness, Leavell looks younger now than he did in their early years. I swear that man looks like he's in his early 40's right now, and probably 20 years or so older than that.

I know!!! I can do pop all day everyday, and I'm not the type who thinks music acts can't experiment or switch it up. Maybe because it was played soooo often, but that doesn't make sense either. I don't know! There was a time that the stations had to be changed when that song came on. I know the lyrics so obviously I couldn't completely avoid it. Plus I tolerated it last night while watching it.

For some reason, I thought they were from Oakland. They did have an impact across the bay, but didn't expect that pimps would be the reason.

I really liked this one. I liked them saying they weren't the R & B version of Menudo! I liked the group supporting their members through addiction, and also while doing time behind bars. They still sent them a cut of the money! You don't hear things like that. Also, one member said they would die off, one by one, and there will be no more replacements. That means you know who you will be seeing when you see their shows now.

Too many times I come on the board where one of the Orgers has gone to a concert, and the group is all mixed up. Nothing like the original group. There are spin off groups, tribute groups, hell, you might not know who is on some of these old school line ups until you get there. I give them major props for that. They held theirs together. Nice episode. I listened to a lot of their songs, but knew very little about them before watching. Good to see Leon Sylvers again as well. He had a beautiful 'fro back in the day.

They just had a nice vibe, with each other and with their wives too.

I agree, they were still gettin' it in their shows too!

Cool. I have some tracks on MP3 but the only full album I have by them is the More Of The Night album with Innocent and My Heart, Your Heart. Those two songs were cool but the rest of the album was like Capitol was trying to marry Whispers with New Jack and it wasn't quite the same.

yeah,I wasn't too crazy about the More Of The Night album.

My other favorite Whispers album is the self-titled album from 1979,containing the massive hit singles "And The Beat Goes On" and "Lady".That's another one that you should look for.It also includes the funky uptempo jam "Out The Box".

You're not the only one. I can't stand that song either.

The Whispers' are truly Unsung... for once the show got it right.

I'd recommend their album pre Solar, they are just as "bad". These gentlemen should blown up all over the damn place, but I think they got lost in the shuffle of all the good music being produced during their most creative period.
