ohgoon None of us know for sure if they disputed it while they were alive with Otis in private, the only thing we know is that it wasn't disputed publicly. Doesn't mean, it was NEVER disputed.

Exactly. Just because they didn't say anything doesn't mean that that's all she wrote lol

Especially considering Otis, who's probably keeping those thoughts to himself.

if otis didn't have his shit together, there would be no temptations to talk about.

Wrong. Otis may be one of the founding original members, but if there was no David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin or Dennis Edwards in the group, then I can guarantee you, we wouldn't even be talking about The Temptations...period.

But we can agree to disagree on the matter. thumbs up!

wrong. ruffin was going out of his way to destroy the group with his ego and addiction. paul william could not stop drinking. dennis's drug use was becomming a problem. what did otis do in response to all this? find some new temptations and hold the group up.

speaking of late70s/early80s Temps

anybody (and I know ya'll do)

remember "I Wonder Who She's Seeing Now"?

my mama LOVED that record in the 80s

what was the lineup like then?

or should I ask which set of Temps was it?

Yet when the average person is asked about "The Temptations", the first names that come to mind are these very men and NOT Otis Williams. So wrong again. Just because he hired more than 20+ replacements for the group, doesn't really mean he "held the group together", he was just continuing to do whatever to keep them checks rolling in.

I'm not disputing the fact that David, Eddie, Paul and Dennis had issues, we all know they did, but my point is simply put, without them and their talent, there wouldn't had been "The Temptations". Otis didn't walk into Motown by himself to get the record deal, nor were any hits accomplished by soley Otis alone, hell he didn't even come up with the group name by himself either. Even if the Tempts would had disbanded during the mid-70's, we STILL would be talking about them this very day because of David, Eddie, Paul, Dennis and Melvin's talent. Otis gets his credit by being one of the original founding members and the sole living original member today, however, we wouldn't even be saying that much without the talent of the other men involved.

Like I SAID BEFORE, agree to disagree. Bye boo. wave

otis is included in every conversation about the tempts because he is the onr that decides how they are going to tackle those classic songs that u love so much. who do u think direct those guys in the studio besides norman? it was otis who kept the name alive. anyone who is a die hard fan knows that.
