Amy Winehouse - Take The Box

One of my fav songs from Amy's Frank album! So soulful smile I seriously miss this woman, she was such a big inspiration to me.. Not like the boring Adele lol

I got "Back to Black" album 2 years ago and i can totally say it's a masterpiece and yet i've never heard something like that.

Amy is just great..

I listened to the track.. noticed that it sounds like "Some Unholy War" or something..

I think about buying the "Frank" album as soon as possible.

P.S.: I like her falsetto at the end, there's like no falsettos in Back to Black as far as i can remember sad but though her voice and low notes are breathtaking!

This is a great song.

I also really like Fuck Me Pumps on that album.

I think in terms of her albums, Frank is way underrated, I think it's excellent and Back to Black way overrated - but was probably because by then she was more widely known and had more of a publicity machine behind her.

I really miss her as well.

Yes, Fuck Me Pumps is a classic Amy song and Stronger Than Me.. I agree, Frank is def underrated and certain fans dislike it because Amy hated the mixes on the album and also said it was a crappy album lol.. I love it though. Yes, I think Back To Black is a great album but it got over exposed because of all the popularity it got over in the US. That fame I believe eventually killed Amy (and her crappy relationships) because she looked healthy and normal while doing Frank, but then later on got so skinny and stressed when she got all that fame...

^ Miss SJ - Agreed, she just had a nightmare self destructive streak and a nightmare boyfriend which probably didn't help although you could argue it inspired her to write some of her greatest songs.

Gold Dolphin ...I abolutely love this song too, especially those haunting horns....agreed - She looks so shy and innocent in that video compared to how she later looked....sad....bless her soul hope she's happy now.

You should def buy Frank, it's a great album! Some of my fav songs of hers are on it... Yes, there are not much falsettos in Back to Black but her low notes are fantastic on that record! Check out "You sent me flying" from her Frank album, I personally love that song!

I know she looked great! It's a shame she got so skinny with those drugs.. (She should have listened to the "ghost of Michael Jackson" that told her to stop with the drugs or else she would die lol... )

I haven't heard that rumour, but there was a story of Amy appearing to Pete Doherty.

I love Take the Box & the entire Frank album. I bought it the year it came out! Kinda proud of that lol

Here are two live performances... an older one and a 'modern Amy' singing it. It's cool to see Amy in her Back to Black style singing Frank songs biggrin

I love this one!

From the grave ... Amy Winehouse has had a "visit" from Michael Jackson's ghost Source:The Daily Telegraph

DRUG-addled Amy Winehouse claims to be putting her addicted ways behind her after claiming that she was "visited" by the ghost of Michael Jackson.

Winehouse, who was reportedly consulting with spirit mediums while on the isle of St Lucia while spending months in the Caribbean trying to dry out, has been a long-time fan of the late King of Pop.

She once said: "I could never decide whether I wanted to be Michael Jackson or marry him.

"I don’t care what people say because he’s a f…ing genius."

However, their relationship has turned supernatural of late, with a source close to Winehouse telling Britain's The People: "…She heard Michael's voice telling her if she didn't sort herself out she'd lose everything."

@offthewall I know, I'm also proud I bought the album when it came out smile! I think I was 12 when it came out and I just remember loving that there was an artist I could relate to musically, because not many kids at the time liked the type of music I was into... She was a fan of MJ, Nas and old jazz / soul singers just like myself so I def connected to her sound and musical vision lol...

The jazz thing she puts in her songs is just breathtaking! The producer Mark Ronson who produced almost all the tracks in Back To Black also produced Bruno Mars "UJ" btw.

also, he guy felt jealous of Amy haha, check out the interview here:

Love this song. My favorite Frank track has to be "In My Bed." I think...

I'm a huge fan of the songs on Frank, but def dig the tonal quality of Back To Black much better so I'm interested in what she thought herself...

Great song! My fave our of Frank is "I Heard Love is Blind"...actually one of my faves of hers ever. She was a great artist, not just because of her voice but because of her no-apologies approach to her material. RIP.

That said, I've never understood any comparisons to Adele (who I also think is great in a totally different way).

Good song from a brilliant album. She had some voice on her too. Shame how it all went for her.

I'm a huge fan of the songs on Frank, but def dig the tonal quality of Back To Black much better so I'm interested in what she thought herself...

She felt that the record label had forced her to put certain songs on the album and some mixes she thought was not her artistic vision, that they had been made without her input. I think at some point she even tried to boycott the album lol... (I'm going to see if I can find the interview she speaks more about the mixes on Frank...)

She was very proud of Back to Black, because it was her vision to always make straight jazz-hip-hop records, I think she even said that meeting with Mark Ronson had given her inspiration again and made her write music...

I love I heard Love is Blind, I totally agree. I miss that aspect of her, that she would say whatever was on her mind... The music industry needs more people that are more outspoken and honest.

The comparison with Adele is because she is inspired by Amy and because she came after her and also has great success in the states. I personally never liked Adele, but music is subjective smile

Right, I get that she might have been inspired by Amy but I just feel like their styles are completely differen IMO.
