Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar In Marrying the Gunners Daughter!

That's the title of his new album which drops on 1/21! I can't wait to get this. The album art work is also very interesting. I may need to buy it on vinyl as well as a download. Anyone else excited about his come back? I just hope it's good. This will be my first album of the new year. cool

Yeh, i got it on pre-order. Can't wait, the first single 'Cool Zombie' has been out awhile, kinda laid back. The B-side 'Gun In Your Pocket' is where it's at though, a diss on Liam Gallagher and Russell Brand.

He was on Jools Holland recently and very good he was too (it's on youtube). On a side note, I think i'm in love with his blonde drummer. I saw him back in November, it's great he's doing a lot of the old stuff, I've been on a 'Dirk Play White Sox' & 'Kings' era frenzy lately.

His 'Blueblack Hussar' is his 'Kings' era persona back from the dead i read somewhere the other day. I love the fact all the old logos are back too.

It's great to see him back looking well and happy.

Adam was/is awesome. biggrin

I saw him last November and he was brilliant.

Here's the new single.

She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?

I seriously can't wait for this album to drop. I'm playing all his old stuff over the next week until the new one comes out. I really hope it's good. 17 songs for me is usually way too many tracks on one album but for him i'll make the exception. Adam looks so good these days too. He's still hot for a man pushing 60. I haven't seen what his drummer looks like i'm too preoccupied with Adam!

By the way, Ijust downloaded Vive Le Rock which Iunderstand critics didn't like. What do you thinkof the album??

I actually like Vive Le Rock a bit more now than before, also like the Wonderful album too alot, always liked that and my opinion hasnt moved on it, but what has changed is my feeling on the "Manners and Physique" record which i wore out back then i totally feel its so overproduced and not even well produced that it doesnt age well at all. As far as critics I dont think Adam ever really was a darling of critics, maybe towards his last album they came around and now they seem to love him but then they didnt love him especially solo. But im really looking forward to this record have been for a long time coming

I'll be listening to Vive Le Rock this week to see what I think. Adam Ant is such an icredible and unique artist. To my knowledge, no 2 albums by him sound alike. I actually love Manners & Physique. I love that Andre Cymone produced it. Technically you're right, the songs are a bit dated and it is over produced but I love pop music (especially from the 80s) and I love that he took a chance and went completely pop/dance. That's a very ballsy move for someone like him. It's one of my fave albums by him and I also love Strip!! Wonderful, I doubt I will ever like. I've heard snippets and hated it. Too slow and acoustic for me.

i think if they somehow remastered Manners i would like it more now, i still like it as an album material wise and song wise, its just the sound is terrible and low, plus the dated production, trust me im an 80's person and i still love most that stuff today, but something in this production is lacking, maybe its too thin sounding, too many machines, etc...

True Adam is very varied, and i understand your feelings on Wonderful, i enjoyed him jumping a bit there because he had too, it was a real confusing time in the mid 90's for alot of artists and souds, he couldnt do a grunge thing, and he really couldnt do dance and everything 80's at that point was taboo, the usual new decade get rid of the old one attitude, but i liked alot, though Adam did piss me off, back then because i had tickets to see him do an acoustic show with Marco and Adam cancelled it that day, somehow i never got refunded for 2 tickets i bought, never made up the date, cause i think this was when Adam was really not in the best state and when things started to go overboard. And then last year i bought tickets to see him at the Best Buy theater early on and he cancelled only to reschedule late last year, i thought he was doing it again.

Damn, that sucks you had 2 really bad experiences with trying to see him live. I've never seen him live but would love to. Will you try again on this new tour?

i loved his music back in the day, the bloke was a stud, so i don't mean to be horrible but isn't it all a bit undignified? he looks stupid in that hat & i don't like his glasses.. he's having a job to dance & doesn't he care about embarrassing his kids?

well luckily this time when he cancelled the first Best Buy theatre booking here in nyc he did a make up last fall, and it was great, i finally got to see him, but i was more worried that something was up with him but it was more about the timing of the shows and getting the record finished and out

Back then, this is where he lost me. Now it sounds like a fantastic T-Rex album made in the 80's! so yeah, i love it. I like most of his work, mostly his early stuff. I'm glad he went pop cause all that early punk stuff (of which there is lots!) would be lost in obscurity, or worse, he wouldn't have been around today.

It makes me laugh that when 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier' parents took their tweens to see this guy. He was pretty dark and subversive with songs like 'Killer In The Home', 'Ants Invasion', ''Physical (You're So)' etc.

What teen idols do they get now? lol

I listened to the expanded Friend Or Foe album on my way to work today! biggrin
