whats the S Club 7 and Prince connection?

HE'S done it again.

A little over a week since rocking the Hi Fi in West End music icon Prince - who turns 54 on June 7 - proved he's still got the stamina of performers half his age by holding an epic jam after his second and final Brisbane Entertainment Centre concert.

Word went out during Saturday night's show that the Purple One would hold an after party show at Eatons Hill Hotel's Grand Ballroom in the early hours of Sunday morning.

By 2am the room was filled with just fewer than 800 punters, less than half of its capacity.

This was by design rather than chance as the Purple Rain singer's intentions is to create an intimate atmosphere.

The Eaton's Hill Grand Ballroom is quickly gaining a reputation as a fantastic venue since starting live entertainment in October last year.

The New Power Generation took the stage just before 2.30am, delivering a master class on true entertainment and musicianship.

Prince controlled and directed his talented band like a master conductor, giving each member ample opportunity to show off their formidable prowess.

He also demonstrated his own musical genius on guitar, bass, keys and vocals throughout the night.

Songs getting an airing included Outstanding, We Party Hearty, Mutiny, Jungle Love andScandalous, although thoroughly reworked versions of the originals.

The band finished up just before 5am with a funky version of Days of Wild.

Surely there couldn't be greater contrast between Prince and the New Power Generation and manufactured UK pop act S Club 7, who played at the same venue earlier that evening.

No one present at either the Hi Fi or Eatons Hill after parties could have been left in any doubt that they'd just witnessed one of history's greatest musicians, showman and all round entertainers in his prime.

LOL

In the USA, S Club 7 only had one hit:

Apart from THAT^, they were only well known for their TV sitcom that used to be on ABC Family.

Tine looks really different. She looks great but almost nothing like she did twelve years ago.

Bradly, Jon, Rachel and Hannah look pretty much the same, maybe a little older. Paul kind of let himself go and Jo looks a little rough.

Darn it, now I really wanna watch some episodes!

Tina and Rachel were the hottest ones in the group! Jo could sing, but there was that turned me off about her, maybe its me! Hannah looks too much like Baby Spice for me to look at her as sexy. As for the guys, Paul and Bradley were the coolest ones and Jon was so so. BTW, Jon has come out of the closet, ya'll!!

I actually have dolls of some of the members. I can't tell you their names now though lol I used to watch their show. But the main british teen pop groups I was into were Spice girls and Five.

I loved the spice girls, though I was in denial in the beginning, but ended up buying memobrilia and albums despite mostly being into r&b/hip hop and music my parents grew up on and stuff from when I was a little kid (80's & 70's music). In a way, it brought me closer to younger relatives

I met these folks, at my hotel pool in L.A., just before their show debuted in North America. Had no idea who they were (although they did tell me they were there to make a TV show, etc.). The ones I talked to seemed nice enough.
