Elton John Presents New Album, The Diving Board

February 24, 2013

Elton John has announced plans to release a new album.

The Diving Board will be the pop icon's 30th studio LP and will be only the second of his main releases since 1979's Victim of Love to be recorded without any of his regular band.

However, long-time songwriting partner Bernie Taupin joins John once again for the record, which contains 13 tracks.

John described the LP as "the most piano-orientated of my career", as well as the "most adult", reports Billboard.

He added that the album will be a mix of gospel, blues, jazz, brass band music, pop and a waltz, calling it "everything I love about American music".

While he has yet to set a release date for the album, it is expected to be available in September.

The Diving Board track listing is as follows:

''Oceans Away''
''Oscar Wilde Gets Out''
''A Town Called Jubilee'''
''The Ballad of Blind Tom'
''My Quicksand''
''Can't Stay Alone Tonight''
''Voyeur''
''Home Again''
''Take This Dirty Water''
''The New Fever Waltz''
''Mexican Vacation (Kids In The Candlelight)''
''Candlelit Bedroom''
''The Diving Board''

hes been one this project for a bit now, it was originally going to come out last year than he toured and it got postponed to early this year, but he went back and recorded more on it, he did mention early on that this was going to be mostly piano oriented, though he did not say before it was not with the band.

From whom did you hear that?

He put out an album of original material in 2006 (The Captain and the Kid) and recorded a duet album with Leon Russell in 2010 (The Union).

He should have called the album "I'm The Bitch."

The titles are interesting. Surprised there were no cowboy or western themes.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

UK press a couple of years ago widely reported it.

nah the UK press reports alot of junk, just as much as the USA, he may have said he sees no need for albums anymore and they ran with that, but Stevie Nicks said that las month about her and Fleetwood Mac touring, she said no album maybe a new song or two, albums are a waste now.
