Diana Ross - Muscles

"Muscles" (written and produced by Michael Jackson eek )
She said she wants a man
To always understand
But that's alright for her
Still it ain't enough for me

And she said she wants a guy
To keep her satisfied
But that's alright for her
But it ain't enough for me

Still, I don't care
If he's young or old
(Just make him beautiful)
I just want someone
I can hold on to

I want muscles
All, all over his body
(Make him strong enough)
(From his head down to his toes)

They say they have to see
His real personality
But that's alright for them
Still it ain't enough for me
I need what the eyes can see, ah
(His anatomy)
If that's alright for them
Still it ain't enough for me

I don't care if he's young or old
(Just make him beautiful)
I just want some strong man
To hold on to

Muscle man, I want to love you
In the sun, oil on your body
Come with me, high in the cascades
Let this be, we've got this thing made
Lost at sea, hide in the desert
Stay with me, you won't regret it
Take this love, so deep to swim in
Come to me, and let my love in

This is the type of song that is played constantly at hole in the walls backroom gay bar.

Would a heterosexual male be able to write these lyrics?

Live performances of this song were interesting. If only it had actually been called "fat rolls", I could have been one of these blokes. lol

If A Girl Answers Don't Hang Up

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yes, why not? absolute majority of the songs that are performed by women (even very sexy songs) written by men smile

Of course. A man SECURE in his own sexuality would have no problem writing these lyrics.

The lyrics don't have to necessarily refer to a guy either. biggrin

Lots of heterosexual songwriters have written songs for women on the thoughts of the woman. I don't see why that's any different regardless if we can actually guess Michael's sexuality, which is for another topic altogether and not related to the song.

the song:
very provocative, but quite boring, IMHO.
I was more impressed with the video ... it was too bold for 1982 I wonder if there were more candid video before or it was a kind pioneering?

This video came out in 1981:

I always thought this song (and the video in a way) was a response to Olivia Newton-John's song...

Yes, the influence is really obvious ... although I think that Diana went far: nympho in bed - nastier than horny trainer in the gym, IMHO. lol
