Emancipation89

I thought she was gonna sing 'Empire State of Mind pt.2'!! How perfect would have that been?!

And I hate to say this but you can really tell she hasn't been taking care of her voice the way she's supposed to...seriously what's up with her singing lately?? Hate her hair too but I mean obviously it's all about Sandy victims tonight not who looked best k I'm done pray

With the exception of Alicia Keys, so far this has been a classic rock lovefest. guitar love music cloud9 Then again, only this type of lineup could be assembled on such short notice to get anyone to watch, let alone donate money. I'm sure they would have loved to have U2 up on stage, but once again this was short notice. But either Jay-Z or his wife Beyonce could have shown up for this. sigh

Then again, would all those Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, and Springsteen fans have shown any love for Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift had they participated in this concert? I think not. (Okay, maybe they would have tolerated Taylor Swift.)

I know. I couldn't stand it. He was using tracks. I thought when they played Rihanna's part in one of his songs, that she was going to come out on stage or something. He needed a real band. His whole act just seemed so empty, like something was missing. Not crazy about Kanye anyway. They could have left him out of the show. shrug

I think it was fine of Kanye to participate in this concert, and his heart was in it, but his show lacked the energy of the other performers. I agree that he should have had a real band backing him up. nod I'm sure the Roots were available; I think they would have gladly helped Kanye out, and they would have been welcomed by the other performers as well.

It just seemed off from an artist who usually has 10 other people on stage around him. Guess that's why something didn't seem right. A band backing him up would have been a much better show for him. He needed some musicians, a band to add some flavor to his performance.

This was kind of off putting. I mean, weren't Haiti and the Caribbean countries more devastated by this Hurricane? And I think the earthquakes in Japan were probably worse as well. Not to mention the conflicts in Syria/Egypt/etc. I know it was a terrible disaster but there are people who have suffered and are suffering far worse.

So what you're saying?

There was a lot more devastation from Sandy than shown in the media, and a lot of communities were hit hard, but again not covered in the media. I don't think you can measure natural disasters when lives are lost, and many lose everything they own in a flash. Natural disasters, no matter where they take place, will not stop conflicts that have been going on throughout the rest of the world, prior to the disasters, nor should any devastation from a natural disaster be ignored or belittled because of where it took place.

I thought the Who pretty much wiped the floor with everyone else. I haven't watched Maccavana's set yet though, the DVR cut of at 30 minutes overtime. Also missed Alicia, will go back tonight & check it out.

But it was nice to see the Who in good form for a big TV event, their last few have been underwhelming. And I appreciated that they did a few obscure songs in place of the usual Won't Get Fooled Again.
