actually... i have always wondered this.

Critics & other people give Lenny a ton of shit for showing his influences & having an obsession with 60's & 70's rock.

Prince showed his influences..... Jimmy Page ''borrowed'' rifts from blues artists he was inspired by... as did Keith Richards.

Bob Dylan took verses from old folk songs & was vocal about it.

Dozens of artists show the influence in there songs.... hell half the new albums of today get praised for having an 80s sound lol

So has Lenny been givin so much shit over the years?

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

Probably becuse he has ALWAYS aped someone of the past and never seemed to have any originality. Hell, his style of overt influences BECAME his style. Also being a child of priveledge didn't help. He has become respected over the years. Even Wax Poetica have recently given him an article of props. I see his career as an example of triumph because from the git-go critics were shitting on him for his lack of supposed originality and they never let up but Lenny kept on with the style of using a lot of overt influences to create his musc and won a solid fan base and successful career.

Having said that Ill buy anything he releases but never really spin them regularly ..he hasn't been the same since he chopped his locks off during Five tour. Fuckin Cree Summer and her big mouth....

That was his Lovesexy imo.

Nobody has any love for Are You Gonna Go My way? his greatest imo.

That was my first Lenny album! i recall buying the album around 2005ish? when i was a freshman in high school.

I was thinking it was all going to be hard rock tunes, but after Are you gonna go my away.. every song was a slow ballad.

It took me awhile to dig that, but i do!

Believe

Heaven Help

Come On & Love Me

Black Girl

Are great great songs cool

Lenny is so underrated confused people really give him a lot of shit.

and Sugar ..man that album was his peak imo. His really had his shit together on that one. Its his most consistent album to me.
