Mucho Reissues Talk IV

2013 will see the release of an expanded 2-CD edition of Inspiration Information. The release, slated for April 16, 2013 from Epic and Legacy, has been prepared under Otis’ supervision and offers no fewer than 18 unreleased tracks of prime Shuggie Otis!

Legacy’s deluxe reissue of Inspiration Information will include the original album (last reissued on CD by David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label in 2001) alongside four previously-unreleased bonus tracks on the first disc. The second CD, titled Wings of Love, sweetens the pot even more, and finally gives fans a follow-up album to Inspiration. Wings will premiere 14 unreleased live and studio tracks recorded by Otis between 1975 and 2000. Columbia artist and soul man Raphael Saadiq has penned a foreword for the new set.

NEWS: CHANGE TO FUTURE BBR RELEASES...

Sadly, as of January the bulk of our new releases will be housed in straightforward CD Jewel Cases instead of the rounded Super Jewel Cases we have used since we launched. This is due to eternally rising costs of production of the said Super Jewel Cases and Cherry Red have made it clear that we no longer have a choice.

There may be occasional titles by some of our more established high selling artists where we are allowed to use Super Jewel Cases but the bulk of releases starting from January 2013 will be in standard jewel cases.

I know that some of you won't care and others will be upset by this change, but i would like to ask you all to express your opinion on this matter here today. We'd all love to know what you think.

Over to you.
Thanks, Wayne.

I'm down with the music. The packaging doesn't really affect me either way, so long as it's durable. I mean, it'd be a lot worse if BBR was issuing their shit in cardboard sleeves. Hope THAT'S not next! LOL! eek

a new Facebook message from Big Break Records:

Just a quick update on some titles everyone has been asking about. We had some issues with Universal that have made it very difficult to release the albums they have cleared for us. We are hopefully in a better place now to get one with releasing some of our long-promised remasters of albums by the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Kool & The Gang, High Inergy and others. Look out for these by spring 2013.

We have a similar problem with the Salsoul titles. We are working on this also but sadly it means that the new releases of Skyy, Loleatta Holloway and Candido will not be released until January.
Stick with us as we'll soon have you back at the party...

hmmm this explains why we haven't gotten those Kool and The Gang remasters yet.I hope they can work things out with Universal.

This is why they shouldn't make announcements, until they have the master tapes in hand(and their in the process of being remastered). Got my mouth watering over them damn Kool & The Gang albums, and now we have to wait. "I have no patience, mama bring those albums in here, and let's ride, iiiiide (c)Me via Jigga man. Psssssttttt.....*tips desk over*. Seriously though, i hope this isn't another Total Experience records situation.

With Total Experience, the problem (or so they claim) was BBR not having the correct masters. The situation with Universal is totally different. The correct masters are available for those recordings. But, Universal wants big $$$ to license them to the reissue labels. And by BBR using the word "hopefully" in their facebook post, I'm still not counting on seeing a lot of those titles anytime soon. I hope BBR and FTG will come to terms with Universal soon because, as of late, they have both been reissuing titles that are already out there or really obscure artists that I've never heard of. Right now, I don't have anything on my list of anticipated, already announced reissues from either label, which is very unusual for me.

I have this album on vinyl but unfortunately,it's a very weak album. In early 1976,"Love Machine" became their biggest hit single (post-Smokey) but they weren't able to follow it up with more great singles and albums.

The only Miracles album i really want to see on cd is, "Don't Cha Love It". After that, they can put the Miracles to rest. Yeah, I didn't really like Love Crazy. It was weak sauce.
