Stetsasonic: Africa

Funny story about this song.

I had heard this song and wanted to buy it but i didn't have any money. I knew my younger brother had a few dollars so i managed to talk him into buying it before he actually heard it. He was more of a 2 live crew kinda kid and i was more of a socially conscious kinda kid so i knew he would probably hate a song like Africa, and he did. He was so pissed that i tricked him into spending his money but i didn't care. My whole reasoning at the time was that 2 live crew was garbage so i was doing him a favor by introducing him to Stetsasonic.....He didn't buy it though.

"I know this girl whose name is LOLA / She lives in a country called ANGOLA...." - Some of the lyrics always cracked me up. lol

I used to love this, too. I remember they performed it at a concert in London for Nelson Mandela, just after he was released. Just found the clip on YT. For some reason, the BBC cut from their performance to an interview with Patti LaBelle and TTD. Probably annoyed the hell out of me at the time, but kinda amusing to see them gushing excitedly now! giggle
