Rihanna's New Single "Diamonds" Out Now

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, and Rihanna is no exception to the rule. While backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this past Friday, the Bajan beauty revealed that she would be dropping a new single titled "Diamonds" in the next few days.

The singer sat down with New York’s Z100 Morning Show host Elvis Duran, who said he would be premiering RiRi's new single on the station this Wednesday (Sept. 26) at 8AM EST.

"Am I sad, or am I dancing?" Duran asked Rihanna about the new track. "What is the song gonna do to me?"

"You're not sad, or dancing. You're happy and hippie," Rihanna replied, before clarify that the new song from her upcoming seventh studio album is "laid back, but hopeful," a departure from some of her bad girl tracks.

"It's a record that gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it," she said. "It's about love and the gears are a little different than what people would expect, I think. I'm excited to surprise them sonically."

Love the gold jersey she was wearing. Thick thighs and sexy little ass prancing around that stage. Nice.

She's evidently capable of knocking out a project in 4 months (or less). The new album is due out in mid-Nov.

How hard is it 2 record the type of material she cranks out?

Rated R is focused, tightly wound and, in a welcome change, it takes listeners in a darker direction. The best thing she's even done.

A new single from a forthcoming album already? I think she's the only one who can make Beyonce look like a slacker when it comes to putting out singles and albums.

In the past releasing an album every year was very common....I never understood why it takes some people years to make a record with 10 songs...

(not taking to you Prince, you should take a long time and release something amazing lol )

Prince could use an executive producer the likes of Rick Rubin to give him a creative kick in the pants.; that little ditty he unveiled last week sucks.

True, and hell i can like that for some artists. But she never gives anyone room to breath.... i mean she just had a new single a few months ago lol and now a new & another album already.

Girl is grabbing onto that fame as long as she can!

Totally agree, it's her best work this far. If she concentraded more she could do better things. She's not a good singer everyone knows this, but Madonna proved you don't need to be a good singer to be creative. (I'M NOT COMPARING RIHANNA TO MADONNA, YA'LL!) I've always enjoyed watching her videos, it always seems so modern and creative. I see her more as a fashion icon (even tho she's been such a big Kelis copy cat) than an actual artist.

The cover art for "Diamonds" shows Rihanna (presumably) rolling a joint sprinkled with diamonds.

She didn't want Oprah to put the voodoo on her like she does with Dr. phil!

The song is actually not that bad. Lyrics are pretty cheesy, but it is a somewhat departure from the dance pop club music she has been making lately.

"You're a shooting star, I see/A vision of ecstasy/When you hold me, I'm alive/We're like diamonds in the sky."

Hardly poetic, but the song has an overall catchiness which could make it yet another hit single for her.

Not bad but I'm not digging this as a first single for her. I've been on the fence about this girl for quite some time now. I like alot of collabos that she's been on (ie Maroon 5 and Eminem to name two of my faves) and I like a few of her tunes. She confuses me because I want to like her but then she does stupidness that makes me want to slap her - like still wanting anything to do with Chris Brown after he beat the living dog shit out of her. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing but you don't have to allow that person back into your life after you've done the forgiving nor should you be defending said individual when they continue to act a damned fool - just sayin'. I do have to give her kudos for epitomizing 're-invention' in the new generation of pop artists. If you look at her from her debut album to her last one, this girl is the text book example of the definition of re-invention (NOTE: Madonna will always be the queen of re-invention; not trying to take her title). I didn't like her lead single from her last album but loved 'We Found Love' so I'll wait and see what else is on this new album.

That's what I always say, this girl always has cool videos, fashion and overall imagery. It's just a shame she's not a talented artist.

It sounds like she heard Midnight City by M83 and said, "I want me one of those."
